Hiring Rate: $25.38-$31.73Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences (PNWU) was founded as a 501(c) (3) non-profit medical institution in 2005 aimed at increasing access to health care in medically underserved areas of the Pacific Northwest.
The University currently offers the degrees of Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Doctor of Physical Therapy Doctor of Dental Medicine Master of Biomedical Sciences and Master of Science in Occupational Therapy enrolling over 550 students annually. Interprofessional education partnerships with other universities adds another 100 students to the population. The campus includes 300 employees with academic programming spread over a five-state region.
PNWU is located in Yakima WA a city of approximately 95000 located in the south-central part of the state near the eastern slopes of the Cascade Mountains in a major agricultural and outdoor recreation region. The SP Educator serves as a key professional in the development implementation and administration of simulation-based education. Reporting to the Manager of Simulation Education this role focuses on the professional development of SPs through comprehensive training and quality assurance facilitating educational scenarios and debriefing learners. The Educator applies their expertise to enhance skill acquisition and educational outcomes partnering with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to guide curriculum design that is effectively aligned with defined learning objectives advocating for adherence to simulation standards of practice.
Essential Job Functions:
SP Development & Training: Leads professional development for SPs including comprehensive training ongoing assessment of performance and constructive feedback. Ensures quality assurance and standardization of SP methodology and performance. Collaborates with Operations for SP scheduling.
Simulation Activity Management: Coordinates the comprehensive preparation implementation and facilitation of simulation activities including running scenarios and debriefing learners. Collaborates with Simulation Technology for equipment and software readiness.
Curriculum & Scenario Design: Partners with faculty and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to develop accurate clinical scenarios and patient cases. Designs curriculum and simulation scenarios aligned with defined learning objectives ensuring content accuracy and pedagogical effectiveness.
Data & System Operations: Maintains accurate records of SP performance and assists with Learning Management System (LMS) operations. Ensures accurate input SP performance data into simulation center systems.
Quality Control & Standards Compliance: Oversees quality control for assigned simulation activities ensuring adherence to scenario objectives and facility standards. Understands and ensures compliance with departmental accreditation standards and policies.
SP Recruitment & Support: Supports SP recruitment efforts and serves as a backup SP in emergent situations.
Performs other related duties as assigned and based on departmental need.
Education:
Required: Associates Degree
Preferred: Bachelors Degree
Preferred: Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE)
Experience:
Required: 1-3 years
Preferred: Experience in Curriculum Design and Delivery

Skill in effective communication (both written and oral); skill in independent decision making; skill in performing a variety of duties often changing from one task to another of a different nature; skill in problem solving; skill in public speaking; knowledge of customer service principles and practices; ability to apply effective and accurate data entry and typing skills; and ability to operate relevant equipment required to complete assigned responsibilities for the position.
