As a Pharmacy Technician in Specialty Pharmacy you will provide high-touch patient-centric care to drive an exceptional experience for patients enrolled in the ChristianaCare Specialty Pharmacy Program.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Enter patient information and prescription orders in the outpatient pharmacy dispensing system paying particular attention to drug dose route frequency refills date quantity third party payer and other required information
  • Coordinate refills of patient prescriptions
  • Navigate prescription insurance coverage to successfully adjudicate prescription claims
  • Manage inventory storage and purchasing of specialty medications to ensure drug availability accurate inventory value assessment compliance with 340b program requirements optimized inventory turns and minimized drug expirations
  • Conduct temperature monitoring for cold chain distribution products on a regular basis
  • Proactively coordinate medication shipments when there are expected shipping delays to prevent lapses in medication therapy
  • Package and ship specialty medications to patients in a timely and accurate manner while ensuring drug integrity using proper packaging materials
  • Triage and coordinate the patients and their caregivers needs to escalate issues to the appropriate clinical or non-clinical resources both internally and externally of the organization
  • Develop relationships with patients and their caregivers to provide an exceptional and engaging experience
  • Coordinate with the programs clinical team and operations team to achieve the programs goals and objectives. These activities include but are not limited to specialty medication prescription refill coordination implementation or execution of non-clinical care plan activities documentation of program activities coordination with external specialty pharmacies reporting of performance metrics etc

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Associates or bachelors degree preferred
  • Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification required
  • At least 3 years of outpatient or specialty pharmacy experience preferred

Physical Requirements:

Standing and walking with intermittent sitting. Requires movement throughout the hospitals of the ChristianaCare. Some pushing pulling or lifting (up to 50 lbs.) and manual dexterity.

Hourly Pay Range: $19.84 - $29.76

This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCares good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills relevant experience and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
