Job Summary
Summary:
Yorktown Systems Group is seeking a qualified Integrated Air Missile Defense (IAMD) SME support NATOs Joint Force Training Center (JFTC) located in Bydgoszcz Poland conducting training and exercises for the NATO Command Structure (NCS) and NATO Force Structure (NFS) to ensure operational ability and interoperability in a variety of environments.
The Training and Exercise Division (TED) delivers combined and joint training and
exercises. Mainly static and distributed as well as single and multi-echelon for tactical andoperational level headquarters staff and forces in the full spectrum of NATO may assume the responsibility of the Officer Directing Exercise (ODE) for variousexercises i.e. NOBLE JOLT (NOJO) LOYAL LEDA (LOLE) LOYAL DOLOS (LODO).NOJO is a logistics and sustainment centric Computer Assisted Exercise/Command Post Exercise (CAX/CPX) that will train JLSGNP. LOLE and LODO are land domain tactical levelComputer Assisted Exercises/Command Post Exercises (CAX/CPX) that will train relevant
headquarters from the NFS in the Warfighting Corps role. Additionally JFTC may supportthe NATO GEORGIA (NAGE) exercise/s.
Specific duties may include but are not limited to:
- Provide expertise to help develop manage and execute all aspects of Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) within NATO and multinational exercises supported by the organization.
- Support all elements of IAMD integration liaison and execution with key stakeholders including EXCON Air Domain entities JFAC elements Force Protection JISR Targeting and other functional areas.
- Contribute to strategic and operational planning support the development of IAMD related injects and effects maintain situational awareness on air and missile threats and ensuring doctrinally aligned integration of IAMD (including NATO BMD) into exercise design and execution.
- Participate in exercise related meetings as directed by Chief EXCON. During planning and execution phases the SME works closely with the Air Coordination Cell Air Domain stakeholders (e.g. AIRCOM JFAC CAOCs) and other entities embedded in the exercise.
- Coordination with OPFOR and BLUEFOR planners logistics planners scenario developers MEL/MIL teams and functional SMEs.
- The position may require night and/or swing shift hours depending on exercise requirements
- Exercise Planning Support
- Provide subject matter expertise on IAMD planning procedures and how IAMD effects support the development of injects incidents actions and effects across the exercise.
- Support and overwatch the continuity of IAMD related Operational Planning Process (OPP) activities including integration with Air Domain entities JFAC structures and the broader operational chain of command.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of IAMD related elements of the exercise scenario ensuring continuity and deconfliction of events within the MEL/MIL.
- Amass knowledge of OPFOR SOM plans and air/missile threat capabilities to ensure proportional realistic and doctrinally aligned IAMD effects.
- Amass knowledge of the Scenario and OPLAN to develop IAMD related tactical and operational challenges for the Training Audience.
- Assist in identifying obstacles to the fulfilment of Training Objectives (Warfare Development Objectives) related to IAMD BMD and C UAS.
- Assess opportunities to link concurrently running air or missile defence related exercises conducted by external entities (e.g. AIRCOM JFAC CAOCs) to enhance training value.
- Coordinate with other domains to assess possibilities for mutual support especially in areas of Force Protection JISR EW and Targeting
- Exercise Execution Support
- Support the implementation and management of IAMD related events and injects during the exercise.
- Contribute to improving MEL/MIL products under the guidance of JFTC MEL/MIL and EXCON Chief ensuring coherence with the tactical situation.
- Develop integrate and synchronize IAMD related targeting injects and ensure harmonization with the scenarios tactical and operational context.
- Work with the Training Audience HICON and EXCON Air Cell to synchronize IAMD BMD and C UAS effects with fire support targeting and air operations cycles.
- Ensure that all supporting systems (CAX JCATS JTLS) reflect IAMD related events accurately.
- Develop and monitor the IAMD related Air and Missile Picture for EXCON including A2AD considerations and coordinate with stakeholders to ensure accuracy and achievement of end states.
- Contribute to the establishment of Ground Truth for all IAMD related activities.
- Provide advice to EXCON on IAMD capabilities limitations and doctrinal considerations.
- Assessment and Reporting
- Contribute to the evaluation of Training Objectives (Warfare Development Objectives) related to IAMD BMD and C UAS.
- Provide subject matter input to exercise observations and lessons learned.
- Identify capability gaps doctrinal issues or procedural challenges related to IAMD planning and execution.
- Support the development of IAMD related assessments and recommendations for leadership ensuring coordination with other domains and external entities.
- Coordination
- Liaise with HICON LOCON SIDE/FLANCON GREYCELL WHITECELL OPFOR and other functional SMEs to ensure coherent integration of IAMD effects.
- Coordinate with other domains to assess possibilities for mutual support especially in areas of Force Protection JISR EW and Targeting.
- When applicable liaise with Air Domain entities supporting the exercise or running separate air domain exercises (e.g. AIRCOM JFAC CAOCs).
- Participate in relevant planning meetings workshops and coordination events.
- Support synchronization of IAMD activities with other operational functions (logistics protection manoeuvre etc.).

Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- Extensive experience in exercise planning utilizing NATO Exercise Planning Process (EPP) within NATO and national environments at OF4 level or above at retirement
- Practical experience in NATO comprehensive operational planning (COP) and knowledge of doctrine and procedures at brigade division corps or joint level
- Experience working in a complex joint operational environment
- Knowledge and experience in Air and Missile Defense including Battle Management and NATO BMD
- Experience with C UAS / C sUAS and C IED Attack the Network functions
- Previous staff officer experience at national or multinational major command and/or joint combined headquarters
- Experience developing realistic exercise injects incidents and operational challenges
- Experience with NATO Targeting Cycle and Air Power Contribution to Land Operations (APCLO)
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft platforms and desirable familiarity with AI enabled tools for product development and management
- Experience working in an international environment
- A native English language speaker or an individual presenting excellent command of spoken and written English with a proven ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing at the level of (SLP) NATO STANAG 6001 - 3333 (Listening Speaking Reading and Writing).
*This position is considered Part Time On Call based on when exercises are being performed for the duration of the exercise.*
Clearance: Must possess an active NATO or U.S. SECRET or higher security clearance.
Location: NATO Joint Force Training Centre Bydgoszcz Poland
Travel: CONUS and OCONUS travel will be required.
