Job Description:
This job is responsible for managing the most complex specialty asset portfolios including farm and ranch land timberland real estate mineral and energy interests and private businesses. Key responsibilities include overseeing advanced asset strategies supporting client and prospect meetings and delivering tailored asset solutions in partnership with private bank teams. Job expectations include demonstrating deep asset knowledge applying sound fiduciary judgment leading asset decisions with growing independence and delivering strong client support and execution.
The Oil & Gas Petroleum Engineer serves as a technical subject matter expert (SME) within Bank of America Private Bank. This role supports fiduciary wealth management and trust professionals by overseeing and evaluating oil and gas mineral interests royalties and nonoperated working interests held on behalf of families nonprofit organizations endowments foundations and other institutional clients. The position focuses on asset oversight valuation support cash flow assurance and risk management rather than direct field operations.
Responsibilities:
Asset Oversight & Engineering Review
Evaluate performance of royalty interests overriding royalties and non operated working interests across conventional and unconventional assets.
Review operator reports joint interest billings (JIBs) production data and development plans for accuracy reasonableness and compliance with agreements.
Monitor drilling completion and recompletion activities on non operated assets to ensure alignment with client objectives and fiduciary standards.
Review and provide feedback on joint operating agreements unitization agreements and farmout agreements.
Identify underperforming assets and operational or economic risks.
Inspect working interest operations on designated working interest assets and comment on environmental matters relating appropriate cases should be able to communicate with well operators for remediation of any environmental issues found
Financial & Economic Analysis
Perform engineering based economic evaluations including decline curve analysis reserves estimation and cash flow forecasting.
Support asset valuation portfolio benchmarking and transaction analysis for acquisitions divestitures and estate planning.
Analyze capital expenditures operating costs and payout timing for non operated interests.
Assist trust and investment teams with distribution forecasting and budgeting tied to mineral income.
Preparation of net income projections and fair market value appraisals (in-house or third party)
Royalty & Revenue Assurance
Validate royalty payments production volumes pricing benchmarks and post production deductions.
Identify and help resolve underpayments overcharges or operator discrepancies in coordination with legal and accounting partners.
Fiduciary & Client Support
Provide technical explanations to relationship managers trust officers investment professionals and clients in clear non technical language.
Prepare written summaries asset reviews and board level or investment committee materials.
Support fiduciary decision making by assessing development options operator proposals and consent requests.
Operator & Third Party Coordination
Act as a technical liaison with operators landmen engineers attorneys and independent consultants.
Review authorizations for expenditure (AFEs) and recommend consent or non-consent on non operated interests.
Support audits engineering reviews and litigation support when needed.
Required Qualifications:
10 years of experience in petroleum engineering reservoir engineering or asset evaluation.
Experience with royalty and non-operated working interests strongly preferred.
Prior exposure to mineral management private wealth trust family office or institutional portfolios a plus.
Proficient with PHDWin / ARIES reserve and economic software
Proficient with well production data and GIS mapping tools (DrillingInfo/PRISM Energy Domain Well Database etc.)
Desired Qualifications:
Petroleum Engineering degree or other applicable engineering degree
Reservoir engineering experience
