Overview

In Business since 1919 and still growing Arrow is a leader in bulk commodity hauling reload operations freight management logistics consulting and technology with operations throughout Canada and the U.S.

We are looking for professional truck drivers to join us and become part of our Arrow family in Saskatoon. As an Arrow driver you will be hauling steel products on super-B flat decks or tridem trucks within the city of Saskatoon.

For more information about our Arrow Reload Divisions please got to cargo handling and secure loads including equipment preparation application of safe practices compliance with applicable Acts and Regulations

  • Perform pre and post anden route trip inspections on equipmentoperated ensuring safety road-worthinessand regulatory compliance
  • Comply with applicable legislation including safe operation load securement drivers hours of service occupational health and safety transportation of dangerous goods and weights and dimensions
  • Comply with all rules and regulations protocols and established metrics
  • Efficiently maneuver truck and trailer(s) into loading or unloading positions following signals from loading crew as needed; check that vehicle position is correct and any special loading equipment is properly positioned
  • May operate loading equipment as per role requirements
  • Check mobile equipment (i.e. frontend loaders) to ensure that mechanical and safety equipment is in good working order
  • Report vehicle defects accidents traffic violations or damage to the vehicles to the relevant supervisor
  • Report all safety hazards or conditions encountered at load unload yard and shop sites
  • Record Maintain and Check all relevant paperwork (i.e. bill of lading) and documentation to ensure that it is complete and accurate
  • Operate equipment such as truck cab computers CB radios and telephones to exchange necessary information with bases supervisors or other drivers
  • Complete electronic and/or manual logs of working hours and of vehicle service and repair status following applicable provincial and federal regulations
  • Communicate effectively and courteously with the public customers and co-workers
  • Assist in loading and unloading of trucks
  • Perform periodic inspections before during and after delivery to ensure that load is properly fastened down and is secure
  • Ensure that material is properly protected from the outdoor elements. Tarping loads may be a requirement
  • Ensure that any debris caused by the loading/unloading of truck is cleaned up
  • Provide feedback to supervisor/dispatch regarding customer problems mechanical problems or delivery problems
  • Ensure that all customers co-workers and the public are dealt with professionally and with respect
  • Train others as required
  • You Possess

    • Valid Class 1 drivers license with air brake endorsement and a clean drivers abstract
    • Previous B-Train and winter driving experience driving is required
    • Ability to pass a preemployment drug screening and provide two job references
    • Ability to drive a standard (manual) transmission
    • Effective English communication skills both verbal and written for safe work execution documentation and coordination with dispatch and site personnel
    • Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs overhead 75 lbs to shoulder height moving up to 100 lbs and sitting for extended periods
    • Ability to take direction work independently with minimal supervision and crosstrain across facility functions
    • Basic understanding of vehicle and trailer maintenance
    • Strong safety quality and organizational mindset including task prioritization and meeting timelines
    • Professional mature demeanor under stress; ethical accountable dependable and integritydriven
    • Positive flexible team player with strong interpersonal skills and a solid work ethic
