Overview
As a co-op student you will be part of the Modules Calibration and Test Automation Team. The team designs and develops test and calibration automation infrastructure (software and hardware solution) for Lumentum WSS / ROADM Modules. The team also supports the exiting software solutions that are deployed to Manufacturing site for bug fixes and feature additions.
The Opportunity
Duration: 8-month term (September - April 2026)
Pay Range: $24-35/hr
What Youll Be Doing
- Work closely with R&D teams to develop calibration and test plans aimed at optimizing product performance and ensuring compliance to specifications.
- Develop automation software and work with manufacturing facilities to introduce and support calibration and test implementation.
- Through teamwork and technical approaches solve problems related to product failures or test system issues.
- Enhance reliability yield and throughput of test processes in manufacturing while maintaining low cost.
- Manage test data and production trends to enable continuous improvement.
- Trial and deploy developed improvements in remotely located manufacturing plants.
What Were Looking For
Education:
- 3rd or 4th year Physics Engineering Physics Software/Computer Engineering or Computer Science. Software-inclined candidates from other Engineering/Science disciplines would also be considered
- Candidates must be currently enrolled in a recognized Canadian post-secondary institution
Skills & Qualifications:
- Programming experience with Object-oriented languages (VB C# Python)
- Experience with optical systems fiber optics optical measurement instruments.
- Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills.
- Experience developing/working with embedded systems.
- Familiarity with version control systems (Git/Subversion)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
