About the role:
The purpose of the position is to provide project mechanical cost estimation services for all stages of Delivery Management projects building and maintaining competitive pricing schedule databases and ensuring that WHS Community and environmental issues are integrated into the development of cost plans.
Your Responsibilities:
- Develop accurate cost plans estimates budgets and business cases ensuring alignment with project scope design requirements and delivery timelines
- Manage and maintain pricing schedules and databases keeping rates current through market analysis benchmarking and tracking against relevant indices
- Analyse and validate labour material and tender costs identifying inconsistencies and ensuring competitive value-for-money outcomes
- Collaborate with project teams and stakeholders to review estimates manage changes and provide clear cost reporting including written cost and pricing commentary memoranda and reports to support decision-making approvals and value assessments
- Continuously improve estimation practices while integrating safety environmental and community considerations and contributing to post-project reviews and lessons learned.
To be successful in this role you will bring:
- Degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering (or related field) with professional accreditation highly regarded
- Proven experience (5 years) in mechanical engineering and estimating with a strong track record in accurately pricing mechanical works
- Demonstrated knowledge of construction or operational projects ideally within the water industry with familiarity of Sydney Water environments and NEC4 contracts advantageous
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills with the ability to work effectively across teams and provide clear written and verbal insights
- Well-developed leadership problem-solving and organisational skills with the ability to mentor others manage competing priorities and maintain a strong customer focus
