Reporting to the Maintenance Manager the Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for troubleshooting repairing and performing preventive maintenance on industrial processing and packaging equipment. This role supports on-shift production by ensuring equipment reliability improving efficiency and throughput and assisting with continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate performs inspections testing and adjustments to keep systems operating at peak performance while strictly adhering to OFIsafety GMP and food safety standards.
Position Responsibilities
Perform emergency and unscheduled repairs on production equipment during operations
Complete scheduled maintenance during planned downtime or machine service
Troubleshoot machinery to support scheduled production runs
Perform mechanical pneumatic hydraulic and basic electrical troubleshooting and repairs
Modify existing equipment and assist with fabrication and installation of new equipment
Read and interpret equipment manuals schematics and work orders
Maintain conveyors pumps fans and other processing equipment
Perform oxy-acetylene and electric arc welding and cutting on carbon steel
Comply with OSHA safety and health regulations
Follow all GMP and food safety requirements
Adhere to all company policies and procedures
Support additional maintenance duties as business needs require
Position Requirements
Prior experience with welding and fabrication
Strong mechanical aptitude with hand and power tools
Ability to lift 50 lbs. consistently throughout the shift
Ability to stand for extended periods of time
Ability to work all shifts and overtime as required
Effective communication skills with coworkers and department leads
Ability to work in a dusty fast-paced noisy production environment with minimal supervision
Ability to ascend and descend stairs
Comfortable working in a team-driven environment and taking direction from supervisors
Required to wear and use appropriate PPE (hard hat gloves eye protection ear plugs steel-toe footwear welding/cutting protection etc.)
Must understand and follow all Good Manufacturing Practices Food Safety and OSHA regulations
Work Environment

Requires physical stamina and safety awareness
