Job Title: Patient Service Technician (Phlebotomist)
Location: Hyannis MA 02601
Contract Duration:31 Weeks
Shift: Day Shift
Schedule: 40 hours/week (8-hour shifts)
Position Overview
Navitas Healthcare LLC is seeking a detail-oriented and patient-focused Patient Service Technician (Phlebotomist) to support laboratory operations in a multi-site healthcare environment. This role is responsible for accurate specimen collection processing and data entry while delivering exceptional patient care and maintaining compliance with all regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality customer service to patients healthcare providers and staff
- Perform blood collection procedures including venipuncture finger sticks and heel sticks
- Collect throat swabs and instruct patients on proper at-home specimen collection (e.g. stool 24-hour urine)
- Process specimens including centrifugation separation and proper storage/transport conditions
- Accurately enter patient demographics and physician orders into the Laboratory Information System (LIS)
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and medical necessity requirements
- Communicate effectively with providers regarding specimen quality and test results
- Troubleshoot specimen-related issues and escalate when appropriate
- Perform mobile and stat collections at patient homes nursing facilities and physician offices
- Participate in on-call rotation as needed
- Maintain inventory and ensure adequate supply levels
- Ensure cleanliness safety and organization of work areas
- Open and close laboratory collection sites as assigned
- Collaborate across multiple laboratory locations as required
Required Qualifications
- Proficiency in venipuncture and specimen collection techniques
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
- Flexibility to work across multiple locations
- Basic knowledge of laboratory procedures and compliance standards
Education Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent Required
- Completion of a phlebotomy training program or equivalent work experience Required
Certifications & Licensure
- Valid U.S. Drivers License Required
- Acceptable driving record Required
- Completion of Driver Safety Training Program Required
- Medical Terminology competency Required
- Phlebotomy Certification Preferred
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office) Preferred
