We are looking for a skilled and dependable Heavy-Duty Diesel Mechanic to support the maintenance and repair of a diverse fleet of heavy equipment and commercial vehicles. This role involves diagnosing issues performing repairs conducting preventative maintenance and ensuring all equipment meets safety and compliance standards.
The ideal candidate is highly experienced in mechanical hydraulic and electrical systems and can work both independently and within a team in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities- Perform diagnostics repairs and preventative maintenance on heavy-duty diesel equipment and commercial vehicles
- Inspect troubleshoot and repair:
- Diesel and gasoline engines
- Hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Electrical and electronic systems
- Air brake systems
- Steering and suspension components
- Transmissions driveline and clutch systems
- HVAC and air conditioning systems
- Conduct routine inspections including:
- Annual vehicle inspections
- Periodic equipment and crane inspections
- Carry out preventative maintenance tasks such as:
- Oil and fluid changes
- Filter replacements
- Lubrication and scheduled servicing
- Diagnose faults using diagnostic tools schematics manuals and testing equipment
- Perform operational and safety checks to confirm equipment reliability
- Read and interpret service manuals wiring diagrams and technical drawings
- Maintain accurate documentation including service records inspection reports and work orders
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company procedures
- Provide field service support and respond to emergency breakdowns when required
- Maintain a clean organized and safe work environment
- Collaborate effectively with team members while also working independently
- Minimum 5 years of experience in heavy-duty diesel repair or heavy equipment maintenance
- Strong knowledge of:
- Diesel engines and control systems
- Hydraulics and pneumatics
- Electrical diagnostics and repair
- Air brake systems
- Commercial vehicle maintenance
- Experience with equipment such as cranes forklifts tractors trailers generators and similar machinery is preferred
- Familiarity with preventative maintenance programs and inspection procedures is an advantage
- Ability to accurately diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical issues
- Proficiency in using diagnostic software multimeters and testing equipment
- Must own and maintain personal mechanic hand tools
- Employer provides specialized tools and diagnostic equipment
- Tool storage must be maintained in a safe and professional condition
- Valid drivers license with a clean driving record (CDL preferred but not required)
- Ability to pass background screening and drug testing
- Physically capable of lifting heavy components and working in varying conditions
- Monday to Friday (specific hours to be determined)
- Overtime during weekdays and occasional weekend work may be required
