We are looking for up to two Laboratory Informaticians to join our Data & Informatics Team within the Health Security business group for a fixed term 12-month period. These roles provide dedicated informatics capability to support our laboratories during the sunset phase of our current Laboratory Information System (LIS) ensuring continuity stability and fitness for purpose while we transition to a future system.

You will sit at the intersection of laboratory operations and digital systems working closely with scientists operational leaders and technical teams to ensure laboratory workflows tests panels and processes continue to operate effectively. This is a handson role where your understanding of laboratory practice and informatics will directly support health security outcomes.

Depending on business need and candidate capability this recruitment process may result in more than one appointment and/or appointment at a more senior level.

In this role you will be involved in:

  • Providing daytoday informatics support for the existing LIS ensuring tests workflows panels and result reporting remain accurate reliable and fit for purpose.

  • Acting as a bridge between laboratory users and technical teams translating laboratory needs into clear system requirements and solutions.

  • Supporting change management activities associated with LIS configuration maintenance and controlled improvements during the sunset phase.

  • Investigating troubleshooting and resolving LISrelated issues in collaboration with laboratory and technical stakeholders.

  • Maintaining highquality system configuration documentation and standard operating procedures.

  • Supporting data quality consistency and integrity across laboratory processes and reporting outputs.

  • Contributing laboratory domain knowledge to wider data digital or system transition initiatives where required.

  • Working in a manner consistent with PHF Science health safety and wellbeing expectations and quality frameworks.

To be successful in this role you will bring a strong understanding of laboratory environments and systems combined with the ability to work collaboratively across science operations and digital teams

You are likely to have:

  • Demonstrated experience working with laboratory information systems (LIS and/or LIMS) preferably in a diagnostic public health or regulated laboratory environment.

  • A solid understanding of laboratory workflows testing processes and result reporting.

  • Experience supporting system configuration test setup panels reference data and workflow optimisation.

  • Confidence engaging with laboratory users to understand issues interpret requirements and deliver practical solutions.

  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills with the ability to investigate issues and identify root causes.

  • Experience working in environments with quality systems accreditation or regulatory requirements.

  • Welldeveloped communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts in a clear practical way.

  • The ability to manage competing priorities and work calmly through system or operational pressures.

  • Experience with system transitions legacy system support or working through a system sunset phase would be advantageous as would familiarity with health security public health or forensic laboratory contexts.
