Principal AI Interaction Designer (12 Month Contract)

Lab Summary:

Samsung Design Innovation Center (SDIC) located in San Francisco is forming a small nimble team to redefine the future of digital health. Working at the intersection of design AI and human experience this team will explore how agentic and conversational AI can redefine future health and fitness experiences. The team will tackle complex and forward-looking design challenges to spark creativity optimize concepts and develop innovative new experiences for the near and mid-term future. We will collaborate closely with global partners to create impactful design directions by combining user insights data and advanced design approaches. This is a full-time one-year contract role with the potential to extend or convert to a full-time position based on impact.

You should be ready to help at all stages of product design from identifying unmet and latent needs discovering new design opportunities designing new product concepts to applying technology creatively to solve real user problems and create radically new experiences that re-imagine the way we interact with products.

The studio is working on various advanced product experiences which can shape the future of Samsung Businesses working with various internal teams through experience-driven approach. Our work appears on smartphones tablets computers televisions wearables and other devices we cant describe yet. See some of our work at note that this is for a 12 month contract 5 days a week in-person at our office in San Francisco.

Position Summary:

The Principal AI Interaction Designer is responsible for creating beautiful functional and desirable interfaces and experiences with a focus on AI-driven and agentic user experiences for Samsungs digital health offerings. This is an individual contributor role where you will lead projects and ensure a high bar for the work. You will need to understand how people use products (e.g. wearables smartphone) and leading health apps and services to craft the desired user experience with a focus on AI-rich conversational and context-aware interactions.

Position Responsibilities:

• Expected to lead projects and engage with a variety of stakeholders to get input and assess options
• Conceptualize visualize and develop ideas for products with an emphasis on future AI-driven health experiences
• Integrate AI with the lens of improving the user experience leveraging various AI technologies including conversational and agentic systems
• Building ideas that turn complex and confusing into simple and understandable
• Wireframing conceptualizing rapid prototyping user-testing interaction design and visual design
• Collaboration! Work on products and features in close collaboration with other Designers and Engineers
• Crafting experiences that accomplish appropriately set goals successfully
• Developing prototypes at varying fidelity levels to support iterative design needs throughout the project
• Knowing how to ask the right questions based on learning objectives and conducting user testing alone and/or with peers
• Extending beyond expectations to push ideas forward
• Travel International and Domestic and work overtime when needed

Required Skills:

• Bachelors Degree or Masters Degree preferred in Design HCI Product Management Engineering or equivalent combination of education training and experience
• 16 years of UX Design with Project Management/Leadership User experience/Interaction
• Understand user behaviors and interactions of products and services and create compelling product solutions based on their behaviors
• Experience leading complex design and innovation projects
• Experience working on a range of products from hardware/software mobile voice interfaces etc.
• Experience leveraging AI to improve the user experience
• Strong HCI (human-computer interaction) skills and strong user research appetite
• Strong understanding of design thinking design principles and experience design methodologies and their applications
• Design hypothesis development prototyping & testing sketching & visualizing bold ideas and user scenarios
• Pitching and communicating the UX/UI concept to stakeholders
• Documentation creation: Scenarios Wireframes Visual Design low & high-fidelity mockups and prototypes
• Be clear concise have transparent communication style willing to take action and open to starting a project idea concept from scratch
