Job Summary

The opportunity:Dive into an amazing opportunity as a Full-time or Part-time Lifeguard Swim Instructor with the Tamarack North Centre - YMCA. Apply anyway and we will connect with you regarding certification this role you will: Demonstrate strong support and commitment to serving the membership facility users and all program participants of the YMCA of Simcoe/ instructional swimming lessons to various age groups following established organize and implement core lesson plans/daily lesson plans progress reports and accurate up to date progress sheets and records for participants; keep Daily Log up to date and up and take down recreational program and other equipment as required at the same time checking that equipment is safe and in good repair (reporting immediately all malfunctions and removing the damaged equipment immediately from circulation).Complete a safety check of lifesaving equipment prior to each shift. Assist staff team in some cleaning duties related to pool and appropriate behaviours in line with our Mission Vision and Values as reflected in our YMCA competencies; takes a member focused approach to increase their understanding of programs offered across the the importance of the volunteer staff partnership and integrate the value of philanthropy and volunteerism in dealings with members volunteers donors and to all provincial and federal legislation relevant to job wiling to work a flexible work week including days evenings and bring:National Lifeguard Program AwardStandard First Aid & CPR CYMCA and/or Red Cross / Swim Instructor certificationYMCA Aquatic Fitness Certification or equivalent an assetCurrent WHMIS certification an assetOne to three months of previous experience in lifeguarding and swim instruction an assetWell-developed interpersonal and relationship building skills; ability to establish rapport and excellent communication with members staff and volunteersExcellent written communication skillsExperience and sensitivity in dealing with members of different cultural and racial backgrounds including visible and non-visible dimensions of diversityFlexibility regarding assigned hours of work including early mornings days evenings and weekendsClear Police reference Check & Vulnerable Sector Screening Willingness to participate in mandated training to be completed before or shortly after commencement of work including:AODA TrainingHealth & Safety Awareness TrainingBill 168 (Violence & Harassment in the Workplace) TrainingPCI ComplianceWHMISChild Safeguarding TrainingWhy work for the Y:At the YMCA of Simcoe Muskoka we believe in creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for all members and staff.
