The Employment Outreach Program Coordinator (Summer Student) will develop and implement an outreach plan to promote and support the Pre-apprenticeship and employment and training this role the Coordinator will engage with local employers community service providers community centres as well as public events and visit community spaces to raise awareness generate interest and share information about these programs.
Developing and implementing community outreach programs and initiatives;
Build relationships with high schools community agencies employment centres and organizations serving underrepresented groups (e.g. youth newcomers women in trades) to promote pre-apprenticeship opportunities.
Collaborate with local employers unions community leaders and training providers to align recruitment with labour market needs and placement opportunities.
Inform employers about program benefits wage subsidies diversity hiring and supports available when hiring participants.
Promoting the organizations mission and services within the community;
Organizing community events and supporting by creating presentations;
Tracking documenting and reporting on community outreach and employer engagement activities;
Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of outreach initiatives;
Providing regular updates to management on outreach activities and progress towards goals;
Works safely reports all workplace hazards and follows all YWCA Hamilton Health and Safetypolicies and procedures
Familiar with and adheres to the Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA) Workplace Safety
Insurance Board Act (WSIB) Human Rights and Employment Standards Act (ESA);
Participates in Health & Safety training provided by the YWCA;
Attends and participates in staff/team meetings;
Ensures compliance with YWCA Hamilton policies and procedures;
Maintains high level of confidentiality/privacy when working with client information;
Understands emerging trends leading practices industry professional standards;
Supports the YWCA Hamilton mission vision and values;
Performs other duties as required.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Works 35 -hour work week;
Travel may be required;
Ability to use frequent medium to heavy physical effort: lifting up to 22.7 kg (50 lbs.) bending stooping and walking.
QUALIFICATIONS
Enrolled in or completed post-secondary education in Business Administration Social
Services or a related field (or equivalent experience);
Experience with developing Outreach Plans;
Strong understanding of Community Services in the Hamilton Region;
Must have current Emergency First Aid and CPR certificate or willingness to obtain at own cost;
Must be able to lead and work from a feminist anti-racist / anti-oppressive perspective for operations and strategic planning;
Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
Must provide a current Criminal record Judicial Matters or willingness to obtain at own cost;
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and also work effectively in a team;
Bilingual English/French or other languages an asset.
Valid drivers license and access to a motor vehicle an asset.
