Position Director of Maintenance (Aviation Operations)

Summary
The Director of Maintenance is responsible for overseeing all aircraft maintenance operations ensuring compliance with FAA regulations and maintaining the highest standards of safety quality and operational efficiency. This role provides leadership to maintenance teams and ensures aircraft are maintained in an airworthy condition to support ongoing operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee all aircraft maintenance operations and ensure regulatory compliance
- Ensure compliance with FAA regulations company policies and safety standards
- Develop and manage maintenance programs schedules and procedures
- Supervise maintenance personnel including hiring training and performance management
- Coordinate with operations engineering and leadership teams to support aircraft availability
- Ensure proper documentation and record keeping of all maintenance activities
- Manage vendor relationships and maintenance service providers
- Monitor maintenance costs budgets and operational efficiency
- Ensure aircraft are maintained in airworthy condition at all times
- Serve as primary point of contact with FAA representatives and regulatory authorities
- Lead troubleshooting efforts and resolution of complex maintenance issues
- Promote a culture of safety quality and continuous improvement
- Other duties as assigned

Summary of Education Experience & Certification
- Minimum 35 years in a leadership or management role required
- FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) license required
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
Required Knowledge Skills & Abilities
- Strong knowledge of FAA regulations (Part 91 135 or 121 as applicable)
- Experience managing aircraft maintenance programs and teams
- Strong understanding of aircraft systems inspections and repair processes
- Experience with maintenance tracking systems and documentation
- Ability to manage budgets vendors and operational performance
- Strong leadership and team development skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced operational environment
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with executive leadership and regulatory authorities
