Job Summary

General Definition of Work

The Adult Education College and Career Navigator support adult learners with individualized guidance to help students plan for and transition into postsecondary education workforce training or employment. The goal is to equip learners with the academic skills career awareness and life readiness needed for long-term success.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree
  • Ability to teach core academic secondary subjects (e.g. English Math Science Social Studies)
  • Experience working with adult learners or non-traditional students
  • Strong knowledge of college admissions financial aid (including FAFSA) workforce development and career pathways
  • Familiarity with adult education assessments (e.g. TABE GED WIN NorthStar Digital Literacy)
  • Excellent communication organization and interpersonal skills
  • Technological proficiency in instructional tools and student information systems
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with staff students and community partners
  • Familiarity with financial aid processes (FAFSA) scholarship resources and career assessment tools
  • Strong computer skills including the use of online career platforms student information systems and Microsoft Office/Google Suite

Salary / Status

RHSD Associate Salary Scale / 190 Days / 8 hours per day

Place of Work

The normal place of work for this position is The Rock Hill Workforce Development & Adult Education site located at Belleview Center 501 Belleview Road. Rock Hill Schools and The Rock Hill Workforce Development and Adult Education program reserve the right to require you to work at such other place(s) as it may reasonably require from time to time.

Essential Functions

  • Guide students through exploration of college training and career options
  • Assist students with applications for college financial aid scholarships and employment
  • Conduct one-on-one advising sessions and career assessments to support goal setting
  • Coordinate college and employer visits career fairs and readiness workshops
  • Develop individualized transition plans in collaboration with each student
  • Build relationships with local colleges technical schools employers and training programs to expand student opportunities
  • Track student transitions and outcomes for reporting and continuous improvement

Other Duties

  • Attend staff meetings professional development and district trainings
  • Support program goals and initiatives in alignment with state and district priorities
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Adult Education

Education and Experience

  • Minimum employment requirements; Bachelors degree
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel Outlook PowerPoint) and general office equipment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Ability to organize work set priorities and meet deadlines with accuracy and attention to detail.

Special Requirements

  • Must have and maintain a valid Drivers License or ability to provide own transportation
  • Travel to school district buildings and professional meetings

Physical Requirements/Work Conditions

  • Work is typically performed in a standard office or school environment.
  • Requires prolonged periods of sitting standing and walking.
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing filing and operating office equipment.
  • Must be able to lift carry or move materials and supplies up to 25 pounds.
  • Visual acuity required for reading documents data entry and computer work.
  • Hearing and speaking abilities are sufficient for clear communication in person virtually and over the phone.
  • May require occasional bending reaching or stooping to retrieve or file materials.
  • Regular interaction with staff administrators and the public in a busy office setting.
  • May be required to travel between district sites or attend meetings as needed.
  • Work schedule may include occasional extended hours or adjusted shifts to meet department needs.
