General Ledger (GL) Accountant
About Solugen:
Solugens mission is to decarbonize chemical manufacturing. As an initial step Solugen is building its first commercial plant with a capacity of 10000 tpy with the potential to offset up to 37000 tpy of carbon dioxide equivalents.
The General Ledger (GL) Accountant is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the companys financial records by preparing journal entries reconciling accounts and supporting the close process. This role ensures compliance with GAAP and supports financial reporting in a complex chemicals manufacturing environment including inventory fixed assets and plant-related accounting.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and post journal entries for month-end quarter-end and year-end close
Perform account reconciliations (balance sheet and select P&L accounts) and resolve variances
Support the monthly close process ensuring deadlines are met
Maintain and analyze general ledger accounts for accuracy and completeness
Assist with preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules
Partner with plant and operations teams on inventory accruals and cost allocations
Support accounting for fixed assets including additions disposals and depreciation
Assist with inventory accounting including adjustments and reconciliations
Ensure compliance with GAAP internal policies and controls
Support external and internal audits by providing documentation and analysis
Assist with intercompany transactions and reconciliations
Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance
25 years of accounting experience (public accounting or industry)
Experience in manufacturing chemicals or industrial environment preferred
Strong understanding of GAAP and general ledger processes
Experience with ERP system- NetSuite
Proficiency in Excel

Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to manage multiple deadlines during close cycles
Solid understanding of account reconciliations and financial reporting
Strong organizational and time management skills
Effective communication with finance and operations teams
Preferred Qualifications
CPA or CPA candidate
Experience with standard costing or inventory accounting
Familiarity with SOX compliance and internal controls
Background in process manufacturing
Work Environment
Hybrid or office-based environment
Regular interaction with plant operations and cross-functional teams
Fast-paced deadline-driven (especially during month-end close)
