Position Overview:
Greenlife Healthcare Staffing is currently seeking a Registered Nurse (MED/SURG) to fill an opening at a hospital located in New Orleans LA. This role is ideal for a dedicated RN who thrives in a fast-paced environment providing comprehensive care to adult and adolescent patients with a variety of medical conditions and post-surgical needs.

Qualifications:
- Education: Completion of an accredited Registered Nurse (RN) program (Associates or Bachelors degree).
- Licensure: Active Louisiana state RN license and current BLS Certification.
- Experience: At least one year of relevant experience is required.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in IV therapy wound care medication administration (including P.O. IV IM and SQ routes) use of infusion pumps and electronic medical records (EMR).
- Soft Skills: Excellent critical thinking and time management skills; strong verbal and written communication; empathetic and patient-focused demeanor; ability to prioritize multiple patients needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess plan implement and evaluate nursing care for a diverse patient population with medical diagnoses (e.g. pneumonia CHF COPD diabetes) and post-surgical conditions (e.g. appendectomy cholecystectomy orthopedic repairs abdominal surgeries).
- Administer medications fluids and blood products as ordered monitoring for adverse reactions.
- Perform frequent patient assessments including vital signs pain levels intake/output and mental status.
- Collaborate with physicians case managers physical therapists and other healthcare team members to coordinate discharge planning and continuity of care.
- Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses medications post-discharge instructions and disease management.
- Monitor for post-operative complications including infection bleeding deep vein thrombosis (DVT) pulmonary embolism (PE) and ileus.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing ambulation toileting and feeding as needed.
- Respond to changes in patient condition initiate appropriate interventions and communicate concerns to the medical team.
- Maintain accurate timely documentation of all nursing care and patient responses in the EMR.
- Ensure a safe clean and organized patient environment including fall prevention protocols and infection control measures.
