About the role
Permanent full-time Senior Disability Development and Support Officer (DDSO2) position in Highettsupporting people with disability living in Support Independent Living (SIL) Home.
The people you will be supporting are highly independent love a chat a coffee and regularly accessing the community and so are after a high energy experienced disability support worker who is passionate about getting involved in active support.
The successful candidate must have leadership skills and experience; experience working with behaviours of concern and must be able to commit to the set roster line below which is a 76:00/76:00 full time split and requires weekend shifts.
Key responsibilities:
- Directly support people with disabilities
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of support plans
- Contribute to team planning service function and day to day administration
- Work with the House Supervisor to provide staff support and leadership
- Follow person-centred support and behaviour plans
- Facilitate client goal achievement through meaningful activities
- Maintain thorough record keeping
- Build positive relationships with clients families and colleagues
- Advocate for client choice and control
Skills & Experience
- Cert IV in Disability
- Leadership experience
- Experience with behaviour support plans
- Previous experience in manual handling
- Confidence and experience in providing personal care
- A commitment to supporting and promoting the individual needs skills abilities and personal goals of people with disabilities.
- The ability to develop a positive relationship with clients and to support their Individual Personal Plan.
- A current First Aid Certificate
- A current unrestricted Driver Licence and willingness to drive a company van.
Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including a National Criminal History Record Check and an International Criminal History Record Check; if you have resided for 12 months or more outside of Australia in the last 10 years.
