Environmental Scientist/Industrial Hygienist

Locations: Los Angeles or Orange County 50% field / 50% remote

Apex is seeking an environmental professional with experience in industrial hygiene to perform asbestos lead-paint mold/moisture intrusion exposure assessment abatement monitoring and related industrial hygiene and EHS compliance projects across Southern California.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform asbestos lead-based paint (LBP) and microbial/moisture intrusion assessments along with abatement oversight with an approximate 50/50 split between field and office work
• Conduct safety and compliance assessments in accordance with regulatory standards and client requirements
• Support additional environmental services through cross-training including:
  • Exposure assessments
  • Workplace safety evaluations
  • Stormwater compliance inspections
  • Soil and groundwater sampling
  • Noise and air monitoring
  • Aboveground Storage Tank (AST) inspections
• Execute work in alignment with project work plans standard operating procedures (SOPs) and direction from project managers
• Manage scheduling and logistics across all project phases from coordination and fieldwork through reporting
• Prepare clear accurate and technically sound client-ready reports using project-specific templates
• Collaborate with internal teams to support project delivery and ongoing professional development
• Maintain and proactively pursue relevant certifications including 40-Hour HAZWOPER CAC and/or CSST

Qualifications

• 2 years of professional experience conducting asbestos surveys and mold/moisture intrusion inspections as an AHERA-accredited inspector (in any state)
• Current AHERA certification required
• California Certified Asbestos Consultant (CAC) and/or Certified Site Surveillance Technician (CSST) preferred
• Bachelors degree in Environmental Science Industrial Hygiene Microbiology or a related field
