Accountant 32 to 40 Hours/Week

We have a compelling opportunity for a talented accounting professional to administer a wide range of financial activities - from bookkeeping and budgeting to board reporting and audit management - while playing a meaningful role in an organization that makes a real difference in peoples lives.
This is a 3240 hour-per-week position with competitive pay ($38.45$40.85/hour) full benefits a hybrid work schedule a bring-your-dog-to-work policy and a work environment where everyone is valued and respected.
We offer scheduling flexibility based on your interests: Candidates who wish to include payroll processing as part of their role can expect approximately 40 hours per week. Those who prefer to forego primary payroll responsibilities can expect approximately 32 hours per week. Either way we ask that this person be available to serve as a backup payroll processor on the rare occasions our primary payroll lead is unavailable. Training is provided on our top-tier HRIS/payroll system of course.
Specifically you will:
- Administer accounting/bookkeeping and reporting.
- Develop monthly leadership team and quarterly Board of Directors reporting including summary charts variance reporting and relevant points of analysis.
- Develop monitor and manage budgets forecasts and financial plans to support overall business goals.
- Provide financial data analysis and recommendations to senior management to improve financial performance.
- Perform one-off analyses such as breakeven new service line forecasts and other project or situational views.
- Manage annual audit and tax filing processes with external audit/tax firm.
- Track a small number of public and private grants and relevant compliance when needed.
- Advise line managers on budget cost controls and other projects.
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws and implement internal controls.
- Develop and deploy accounting policies procedures and systems to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Partner with senior leaders and other staff to support key vendor management grant tracking and reporting and other ongoing and one-off projects as needed.
Your experience skills and attributes should include:
- Associate or bachelors degree in accounting preferred.
- At least five years of relevant financial administration experience.
- Strong working knowledge of accounts payable accounts receivable general ledger and other core accounting components and processes.
- Self-motivation with the ability to manage and flex across projects and priorities.
- Strong communication problem-solving attention to detail project management and data analysis skills.
- Teamwork orientation.
- High proficiency with QuickBooks and Excel.
- Familiarity with AI tools is a plus - we welcome candidates who are curious about how emerging technologies can streamline financial workflows improve reporting and support smarter decision-making.
