Energy Strategy Manager Carbon Free Energy, AMER Central Infra-Energy

Support the growth of clean energy at scale across the AMER Central Region with the AWS Energy this role you will negotiate and execute power supply contracts across AWS regions and create innovative supply structures that integrate our renewable energy portfolio. You will work hand in hand with the real estate team and cross-functional partners to solve difficult problems in high-growth clusters. The candidate will identify key market conditions regulations and market structures to help evaluate opportunities. The optimal candidate will have a results-oriented approach analytical skill set and strong financial acumen including experience negotiating ESAs (Energy Sales Agreements) and PPAs (Power Purchase Agreements).

Key job responsibilities
- Support the development and execution of a comprehensive renewable energy power and utilities strategy for AWS data centers across the AMER Central Region
- Execute electricity supply contracts that create new clean energy capacity on the grid (through utilities) reduce cost minimize risk and leverage opportunities that benefit Amazon
- Responsible for completing due diligence on in-market opportunities and developing those opportunities into cost savings for the business
- Work collaboratively with the Amazon Infrastructure team including Real Estate Water Strategy and Corporate Development partners to support the development of strategic energy sourcing opportunities
- Analyze trends and regulations in the energy space to proactively identify opportunities that benefit Amazon including CFE (Carbon-Free Energy) procurement strategies
- Partner with infrastructure delivery project managers and leadership to align energy strategy with regional capacity growth and data center development timelines
- Be a passionate self-starter

- Bachelors degree in a technical field or business-related field
- 12 years of experience in utility/energy industry in commercial business development financial analysis or infrastructure delivery roles
- 8 years of experience analyzing energy projects and evaluating complex financial structures
- 5 years of experience in carbon free energy procurement
- Demonstrated expertise in financial modeling and NPV analysis for large-scale infrastructure investments
- Proven ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects requiring frequent communication organization and problem-solving

- Masters degree in Business Administration (MBA) Finance or Engineering
- Experience evaluating emerging power generation technologies (wind solar PV hybrid solutions battery energy storage)
- Familiarity with wholesale power markets and market settlement mechanisms
- Experience working with public utility commissions and energy regulators
- Experience in power marketing and development of renewable energy projects
- Professional certifications such as CFA CPA or PE (Electrical Engineering)
- Demonstrated ability to create standardized frameworks and evaluation methodologies
- Strong bias for action with proven track record of delivering results in ambiguous fast-paced environments

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience qualifications and location.
