About the role
The Applications Lead (Senior Application Specialist) is part of the Technical Programme Delivery stream at APM Terminals and plays a critical role in ensuring the stability performance and continuous improvement of the terminals application landscape.
This is a senior individual contributor role combining handson technical expertise incident leadership and strong business partnership. The role acts as the main escalation point during critical application incidents and drives value by aligning technology with terminal operations.
Key responsibilities
- Own endtoend application stability and performance at the terminal
- Act as lead resolver during major incidents and critical situations
- Perform root cause analysis and drive longterm corrective actions
- Serve as the technical business partner for terminal operations
- Translate operational needs into system improvements and solutions
- Work across the application landscape including:
- Terminal Operating Systems (TOS)
- Gate and warehouse systems
- System integrations and APIs
- Collaborate with global application owners and regional IT teams
- Ensure proper documentation of systems processes and configurations
- Identify opportunities to improve application performance and processes
What you bring
- Strong experience as an application specialist SME or senior application support professional
- Broad understanding of enterprise application landscapes
- Experience handling major incidents and complex application issues
- Solid understanding of system integrations APIs and EDI concepts (configuration level)
- Strong business acumen and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to challenge and improve processes with a sense of urgency
- English proficiency at intermediate (B1) level or higher
Level of autonomy & impact
- Operates independently as the application expert at the terminal
- Leads incident response and stabilisation efforts
- Influences how applications support terminal operations
- Drives tactical and operational improvements
Nice to have
- Experience in logistics ports terminals or transportation environments
- Exposure to Terminal Operating Systems (Navis M4 or similar)
- Experience working closely with operations teams
- Strong documentation mindset
