Head Preschool Teacher

Augustana University invites applications for the position of Head Preschool Teacher in the Campus Learning Center. This is a full-time year round position with a standard schedule of 7:00 a.m. 4:00 p.m.

The Head Preschool Teacher plays a key role in creating a safe nurturing and engaging environment for children ages 35. This position works in partnership with families and staff to support each childs physical social emotional and intellectual development fostering independence belonging and a love of learning.

The duties competencies and responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:

• Develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum and lesson plans that support core Kindergarten readiness academics.
• Create and maintain a positive structured classroom environment that encourages learning creativity and exploration
• Plan and manage daily schedules and activities that promote childrens wellbeing and developmental progress
• Communicate regularly and professionally with parents/guardians regarding student progress classroom activities and Center updates
• Prepare and present child progress evaluations and participate in parent/teacher conferences
• Maintain accurate and timely records related to attendance nutrition health and student needs
• Supervise and mentor student assistants including scheduling support and contributing to performance feedback
• Ensure a clean safe and sanitary classroom environment through daily organization and maintenance practices
• Support family engagement opportunities such as open houses and community events
• Comply with all Campus Learning Center policies University procedures and state childcare regulations

Required Qualifications:

• Experience in early childhood development or an elementary education environment
• Experience in a childcare or related setting and/or an associates degree in early childhood development

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in early childhood education or a related field

Working Environment & Physical Requirements:

• Regular interaction with children families and staff in a childcare setting
• Ability to work in a busy active and occasionally noisy environment
• Occassional heavy lifting
