We are seeking a Data Engineer to join cross-functional teams delivering service innovation program reviews and digital transformation initiatives across multiple ministries.
Role Overview
As a Data Engineer you will design and build scalable data solutions while also contributing to advanced analytics. You will collaborate with product owners analysts and engineers to deliver high-quality data-driven insights that support government decision-making.
Key ResponsibilitiesData Engineering
Design build and maintain data pipelines across cloud (Azure AWS GCP) and on-prem environments
Develop and optimize dimensional models (star/snowflake schemas)
Build and manage ETL/ELT pipelines using SSIS and Azure Data Factory (ADF)
Integrate data from APIs SQL/NoSQL databases and flat files
Implement CI/CD pipelines for automated deployment and monitoring
Ensure data quality governance and security (access control encryption)
Develop scalable data lakes warehouses and curated data marts
Data Analytics
Analyze datasets to identify trends patterns and insights
Develop dashboards and reports using Power BI and DAX
Build statistical and predictive models using Python/R
Translate technical findings into business insights for stakeholders
Support Agile delivery and enable self-service analytics
Mandatory Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Computer Science IT or related field
5 years of experience as a Data Engineer/Data Analyst
5 years working with diverse data sources (cloud & on-prem)
3 years experience with:
Data quality governance and security
Dimensional modeling (star/snowflake schemas)
Reporting & dashboards (Power BI or similar)
Data migration across platforms
SSIS Azure Data Factory APIs
2 years experience with Git CI/CD pipelines and modern development workflows
Nice to Have
Experience in application development
Experience working in government/public sector environments
Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL MongoDB Azure data services
Eligibility for higher-level clearances (e.g. RCMP Top Secret) may be required
