Were looking for anassistant print editor to play a significant role in the team producing a vibrant high quality engaging print version of the Guardians daily news coverage.

This is a6-month fixed-term contract or staff secondment.The working pattern will include regular Sunday shifts.

About the role

  • Plan and produce a compelling well-judged and dramatically presented Guardian newspaper each day
  • Work closely with and support the editor of the daily print edition to produce the best possible newspaper
  • Ensure that news stories already published on the website are well edited and repurposed for the paper
  • Work closely with pictures and graphics teams to ensure strong visual presentation across the print edition
  • Work with and have strong relations with the national financial international features and sports desks
  • Collaborate with the news designers and production staff to ensure timely production of the paper

About you

  • Excellent knowledge of and interest in current affairs
  • Established track record as a journalist in a busy newsroom
  • Strong editing experience in a fast-moving environment
  • Understanding of Guardian values
  • Thorough knowledge of demands of print
  • Good knowledge of media law
  • Ideally youll have a demonstrable ability to bring a diverse perspective to this role

Youll have six weeks of annual leave per year (pro rata) plus bank holidays with the option to purchase an additional 5 days.
