The Advanced Specialist Education Specialist (Creative Media) plays a key role in supporting teachers with our suite of Pearson qualifications in the UK and internationally.
As the public face of Pearson qualifications you will often be the first point of contact to respond to queries from teachers and schools in relation to these qualifications. You will also represent and feedback on teachers views internally being proactive to ensure that we anticipate teacher needs throughout the academic year. You will have an interest in proactively engaging with centres in the UK and internationally understanding their needs and how best to meet them. This role aligns with industry-level titles such as Subject Advisor.
About the role
You will be part of a friendly experienced and supportive team of Advanced Specialist Education Specialist (within the Qualifications and Assessment division of Pearson) who are the focus of expertise for each subject specialism.
You will work closely with the extended qualifications team including colleagues from the product assessment sales and marketing teams. You will be a key contact for internal colleagues representing the teacher perspective and subject knowledge required to ensure that our guidance products services and support meet customer needs.
A key part of the Advanced Specialist Education Specialist role is to respond to incoming customer questions across a range of channels - primarily using our dedicated email system but also via our web pages online meetings social media or on the phone as required. You will also be proactive in keeping teachers informed by writing email updates social media posts subject-specific guidance documents and posts as well as authoring subject news articles to ensure that the subject landing page on our website is kept up to date.
You will deliver live online support sessions for teachers and organisations at various points throughout the year and support with other training events and conferences as needed. You will build relationships and network with teachers schools and key stakeholders understanding developments in education and assessment and representing Pearson within this context.
Duties include:
- Monitor social media for any direct messages about our qualifications needing a reply and post about any relevant qualification updates forthcoming training or new resources.
- Respond to any incoming queries about qualifications using our email systems. These are generally from teachers and Heads of Department but might also include some questions from exams officers tutors parents or private candidates.
- Post an update and reply to posts on our community pages.
- Write a subject news update and publish this on our website and your subjecthomepage carousel.
- Create a PowerPoint presentation for a support session to a Multi-Academy Trust or teaching association according to their needs and requirements.
- Draft the next monthly email update for teachers including qualification news training events and resources.
- Attend a Network event online responding to teacher questions in the chat during the event to support the presenter.
- Capture teacher queries or feedback on themes as they emerge and review existing guidance documents.
- Create documentation or video support and share teacher feedback internally for further action as needed.
- Think about how we can proactively support teachers and Edexcel schools for example by creating new resources to address frequently asked questions.
- Work with the wider team to share key teacher queries and concerns and to stay updated on internal developments that may need timely communication to our customers.
- Meet with the Advanced Specialist Education Specialist team to share best practice and to ensure consistently excellent customer service across all subject specialisms.
- Attend and feed into qualification redevelopment meetings for example for new specifications and assessments.
- Liaise with the dedicated customer service specialist from the customer service team who supports teachers on the phone with queries (and with other internal colleagues as needed) to get their perspective on customer needs and to ensure they are fully up to speed with developments.
- Stay informed of developments by reading relevant Department for Education and Ofqual updates subject association news tweets influencer blogs etc.
Role requires the following strengths and behaviours:
- Educated to degree level with relevant subject qualifications.
- A qualified teacher with teaching experience in a UK or international school and familiarity with qualifications and UK/international education systems.
- A confident empathetic communicator who can deliver online and face-to-face training and can create clear guidance documents and support resources for teachers.
- A networker who enjoys using social media to stay in touch with and share information with teachers.
- A strategic thinker who can contribute ideas to ensure outstanding customer service to help retain market share and to promote our products and services.
- Able to work independently but also enjoys being part of a team of knowledgeable subject experts.
- Focused and organised - able to juggle multiple queries and workstreams in a timely manner.
This is a parttime position (0.4 FTE) with a flexible working pattern.
