First Cook-Food Service Food Production-Mount Sinai West-Part Time 10am to 6pm Weekends and Holidays
The First Cook prepares high quality foods for patients and non-patient services
Responsibilities
- Demonstrates the ability to perform clinical/technical/service/administrative tasks
- Prepares high quality foods for patient and non-patient services.
- Ensures that all equipment used for handling and preparation of food is functioning properly. Reports malfunctions to Supervisor/ chef manager
- Maintains and verifies full compliance with OHSM/HACCP standards.
- Coordinates the development of new menu items with the Chef Manager.
- Utilizes advanced culinary skills to prepare specialty items according to established recipes.
- Oversees and performs (when necessary) equipment sanitizing according to departmental and HACCP regulations.
- Assists in the testing of all new recipes.
- Relieves Second Cooks in patient and non-patient feeding.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Formal training in food preparation preferred.
- Three years of large quantity cooking experience. Two years related experience.
