About the Role
IslamicFamily is seeking a creative and community-minded Digital Ads & Social Media Intern to support our outreach and digital storytelling efforts. This role involves creating engaging content for distribution across platforms like Instagram and TikTok promoting events and programs and attending select events to capture moments that highlight our impact. Help design develop and create content that can be used throughout the year.
This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about using social media to inform engage and inspire diverse audiences. Strong visual storytelling skills attention to detail and a commitment to community-building are essential.
This position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) Program.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Tell Our Story:
Help share IslamicFamilys mission by creating engaging posts that highlight our programs events and community. - Plan and Post Content:
Schedule and post content on Instagram TikTok and more to keep our followers informed and inspired. - Create Visuals and Videos:
Design graphics take photos and make reels or short videosusing tools like Canva or your phone. - Capture Event Moments:
Attend events to snap photos film clips and showcase what makes our gatherings special. - Track Engagement:
Monitor likes shares and comments and suggest ways to improve our reach and impact. - Stay Organized:
Help manage a content calendar to align posts with events and campaigns. - Contribute Ideas:
Share creative input to strengthen our online presence and connect with more members of our community. - Support the Team:
Jump in wherever neededfrom brainstorming to helping at events. - Be Present:
Attend events and meetings in person including some evenings and weekends.
Required Qualifications
- Social Media Comfort:
Youve created or supported content on platforms like Instagram or TikTokwhether for yourself a club or a causeand youre excited to use social media creatively and responsibly. - Strong Storytelling Skills:
You can communicate clearly through words and visualswriting captions making simple graphics or editing short videos. Bonus if you enjoy design photography or video but no pro skills required. - Independent and Collaborative:
Youre reliable manage your time well and work well both solo and with a team. You welcome feedback and enjoy creative collaboration. - Passion for Youth and Community:
You care about building spaces where people feel seen and connected. You want to help others engage with what IslamicFamily offers and be part of something meaningful. - Culturally Aware and Team-Oriented:
You bring cultural sensitivity interpersonal skills and a collaborative spirit to a diverse community-focused team. - Those hired under CSJ must be between 15-30 years of age and either a Canadian citizen permanent resident or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred (foreign students are ineligible) and be legally entitled to work in Canada.

Weeks 12: Learn & Plan

Weeks 313: Explore & Create
- Attend events and capture content
- Become familiar with the variety of IslamicFamilys programs and services
- Engage with different departments and learn about who we serve and support
- Propose content & campaign themes
- Draft digital engagement plan
- Draft content for future campaigns and special events
Weeks 1416: Reflect & Wrap Up
- Revise and bank digital content for future distribution
- Finalize a distribution plan with specific dates for posting
- Submit all content reflect and celebrate the work
