Airbus DS Government Solutions Inc. is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Manufacturing & Supplier Quality Engineer to support the procurement and production of advanced satellite communication systems and this role you will be responsible for ensuring supplier and product quality developing and optimizing manufacturing processes and workmanship standards and driving continuous improvement across the production floor.
Airbus DSGS Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) ensures that external suppliers provide materials meeting company specifications quality standards and regulatory requirements. The SQE is expected to manage supplier performance perform audits drive corrective actions (SCARs) and collaborate with engineering to approve new parts reducing defects and minimizing supply chain risks. The SQE Conducts investigations into customer inquiries issues and grievances gives technical expertise to team members and instructs them in company procedures and writes quality control reports and educational material.
This position requires a blend of hands-on technical expertise and systematic process thinking. You will work closely with supply chain engineering and production teams to ensure hardware is built to specification on schedule and within cost from prototype through full-rate production.
Key Responsibilities
Work with procurement and supply chain to qualify vendors review supplier process documentation and conduct supplier audits for critical components and assemblies.
Quality Management: Managing incoming inspection plans identifying defects and implementing Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs) to address issues.
Generate and process nonconformance reports (NCRs) material review board (MRB) dispositions and engineering dispositions.
Support internal and external audits (AS9100 ISO 9001 customer source inspections) and maintain manufacturing compliance documentation.
Support first article inspection (FAI) activities and coordinate with quality assurance on inspection hold points and sampling plans.
Supplier Development: Guiding suppliers through technical advice and training to improve quality efficiency and compliance.
Manage bills of materials (BOMs) effectivity changes and engineering change notice (ECN) implementation on the production floor.
Develop document and maintain manufacturing work instructions and work order routings for RF and electronic assemblies.
Define tooling fixturing and equipment requirements for new product introductions (NPI) and engineering change orders.
Maintain accurate as-built records serialized unit histories and traveler packages in the enterprise resource planning (ERP) and configuration management systems.
Ensure all manufacturing documentation is revision-controlled and aligned with current engineering releases.
Ensure all hardware is built and inspected in accordance with IPC-A-610 IPC/WHMA-A-620 J-STD-001 and applicable MIL-STD workmanship standards.
Maintain ESD control procedures FOD prevention programs and cleanliness standards appropriate for defense-grade hardware.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Six Sigma and other methodologies to reduce defect rates cycle time and cost.
Support obsolescence management and coordinate engineering for approved equivalent substitutions.
Qualifications
Required:
Bachelors degree in Manufacturing Engineering Mechanical Engineering Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
3 years of experience in quality assurance manufacturing supplier management along with manufacturing engineering process engineering or production support within aerospace defense electronics or satellite communications.
Demonstrated experience with RF/microwave hardware assembly coaxial interconnect systems or complex electronic chassis integration.
Working knowledge of IPC-A-610 IPC/WHMA-A-620 J-STD-001 and ESD control (ANSI/ESD S20.20).
Experience reading and interpreting mechanical and electrical drawings schematics and 3D assembly models.
Familiarity with MIL-STD-461 (EMI/EMC) MIL-STD-810 (environmental) and other military hardware standards.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite; experience with ERP/MRP systems (SAP Oracle Costpoint or equivalent).
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interface across engineering procurement and operations.
Ability to obtain a U.S. Secret security clearance.
Preferred:
Masters degree in Manufacturing Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
Experience supporting AS9100 or ISO 9001 quality management systems in a production environment.
Proficiency in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) FMEA APQP and statistical process control
Strong computer skills with the ability the learn and navigate ERP PDM and QMS systems
Familiarity with satellite antenna assembly waveguide fabrication or phased array / ESA integration.
Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification; Lean Manufacturing or Kaizen facilitation experience.
Experience with SOLIDWORKS CATIA or equivalent CAD tools for fixture and tooling design.
Knowledge of ITAR regulations export control compliance and handling of controlled technical data.
IPC-A-610 or IPC/WHMA-A-620 Certified IPC Specialist (CIS) or Certified IPC Trainer (CIT).
