Mechanic for Mining Projects
Rotation: Project dependent most commonly 14/7 or 21/7
Shift: 12 Hours (Days and Nights)
Travel: Project Dependent - Flights via approved travel hubs (where applicable) OR Drive in / Drive out
Lodging: Accommodations provided
Pre-Employment Requirements:
Successful completion of Alcohol and Drug Screening
Successful completion of comprehensive Fitness-to-Work Assessment. This assessment is job-related focusing on the physical demands and safety sensitive nature of the work and is conducted in accordance with Alberta Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) requirements and the Alberta Human Rights Act. The assessment will cover:
Health History Review: A thorough examination of the candidates health background.
Pre-Medical Evaluation: Measurements such as height weight blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
Musculoskeletal Examination: A head-to-toe assessment to identify any limitations or concerns related to physical health.
Critical Strength and Mobility Test: A series of tasks assessing lifting carrying and positional abilities aligned with the jobs physical demands (up to 50 lbs.).
Worker to provide:
Valid Safety Training tickets
CSO / BSO / CSTS-09/ OSSA Regional
Intermediate First Aid with CPR & AED
H2S Alive
Bear Awareness (In-Class)
Valid Drivers License
CSA Approved safety boots - minimum 6 high & fully lacerable.
All Field Based Workers and Equipment Operators must:
Be physically conditioned to repetitively and safely lift up to 50lbs.
Work a rotational schedule up to 12 hours a day for both day or night shifts as required and subject to change depending on project needs.
Expect to handle noise and vibrations on the job.
Be prepared for and willing to perform additional labor duties as / when required.
Embrace the elements by working outdoors in all weather conditions. Whether its rain shine or snow youll need to thrive in diverse weather environments.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Lubrication service and maintenance of a variety of equipment including Excavators Dozers Rock Trucks Heavy Haulers Graders Scrapers and Loaders.
Diagnosing & completing preventive maintenance on all company equipment.
Greasing booms pulleys buckets and other components of heavy equipment.
Lubricating running gears or moving parts of automobiles trucks or heavy equipment.
Performing work effectively and safely in shops or outdoor construction site environments.
Ensuring service trucks are kept clean organized and always maintained properly and ready for use.
Adhere to project specifications and guidelines to maintain quality standards.
Communicate effectively with supervisors other operators and site personnel to ensure smooth operations.
Champion our safety culture by adhering to Morgans Safe Work Procedures and PPE policies by demonstrating a strong understanding of safety protocols and procedures.
Maintain awareness of the surrounding environment and potential hazards such as other equipment or personnel. Perform JSA and FLHAs as required.
Demonstrate exceptional judgement and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrating versatility in collaborating effectively with team members and independently taking ownerships of tasks.
Operate 2-way radio
Perform labor duties as / when required.
Assist ground personnel as / when required.
Other duties as / when assigned
Experience / Qualification Requirements:
Minimum of 2 years of recent work experience as a Fuel and Lube Technician for heavy civil earthworks construction road building or mining project sites is required.
Strong understanding of safety protocols and procedures.
Minimum of Valid Class 5 drivers license and a clean 3-year abstract. A valid Class 3 or higher license and clean 5-year commercial abstract is strongly preferred.
