The high level:

The Program Directors main role is to provide mission-critical leadership to the regional program function. The Program Directors main role is to lead develop and mobilize a team of four program managers and indirectly lead the AmeriCorps members and tutors to implement all aspects of Reading Partners program with high fidelity. Reporting directly to the Executive Director in the SFBA the Program Director oversees all aspects of program quality delivery and implementation in all schools within the region. The Program Director re-commits school partners builds and leverages new school partnerships and builds transformational relationships with districts and schools to support scale in the region. The Program Director drives regional program strategy and activities and thoughtfully supports the Executive Director in growing the region to deepen impact. The Program Director is a resource mobilizer and relationship-building expert and is savvy at leading and leveraging people processes and policy both internally and externally.

What youll do:

Each year deliver strong fast-paced and highly efficient leadership to the entire program team in the SF Bay Area driving exceptional program implementation with urgency precision and excellence across all 20 reading centers.

  • Achieve a rating of at least 90% satisfaction from principals and community school managers from all school partners.
  • Support 80% of enrolled students in meeting or exceeding their annual performance goals.
  • Retain 95% of AmeriCorps members through the term of service.
  • Retain 100% of the Program Manager team.
  • Achieve 100% enrollment of students by March 2027 (35 students per school).

Each year collaborate closely with the Executive Director to accelerate regional growth by cultivating and stewarding transformational external relationships at the AmeriCorps district and school levelsoperating with speed strategic focus and efficiency in a fast-paced environment.

  • Formally commit to at least 20 school partnerships year to year that meet Reading Partners conditions for success
  • Create and maintain a pipeline of new AmeriCorps recruits with at least 20 new members recruited by the end of the year.
  • Create and lead execution plans for strengthening school partnerships ensuring that program managers meet the goals for their portfolios.
  • Manage and steward a portfolio of external partners and coalitions that serve as peers and potential allies in our work. Ensure all new relationships in the portfolio are established that existing relationships meet or exceed goals and that each relationship is optimized.

Serve as the expert owner and manager of the Salesforce dashboards for program operations AmeriCorps Recruitment and Admissionsdriving real-time data accuracy streamlined reporting proactive insights and operational efficiency to support rapid decision-making and program excellence.

Manage and steward a portfolio of external partners and coalitions that serve as peers and potential allies in our work. Ensure all new relationships in the portfolio are established with excellence that existing relationships meet or exceed goals and that each relationship is continuously optimized for maximum impact.

  • Develop a program budget with support from the Executive Director and manage the expenses of the team to stay within the overall program budget
  • Ensure all finance and operational activities for the program team are 100% completed promptly (e.g. expense reports time cards)
  • Oversee all aspects of AmeriCorps recruitment and delegate to the program team as needed
  • Oversee AmeriCorps training days and delegate to the program team as needed
  • Partner with National Service (AmeriCorps) Talent & Equity and the National Program team to support day-to-day operations and management of the program team

How youll do it:

Leadership & Management:

  • Demonstrate an exceptional ability to lead the mission-critical program function and strategy at the regional level. Show a genuine interest in coaching inspiring and developing entry-level to senior-level staff members. Cultivate a culture of growth and development. Possess a strong ability to coach direct reports on the management of emerging professionals (AmeriCorps members).
  • Set clear goals delegate and provide growth opportunities while supporting progress along the way. Recruit hire onboard and collaborate with the Executive Director to deliver high-quality training to the regional program team. Provide on-site regular coaching and support to the program team.
  • Contribute to the national network of program leaders representing regional needs and advancing regional strategies.
  • Collaborate with the SFBA leadership team and lead an internal team to meet and exceed aggressive impact goals. Consistently coach grow and create stretch assignments to grow future leaders from within.

Compensation: This is a full-time exempt and salaried position. The salary range for this position is $103165 - $128956 per year. We aim to set salaries based on objective external high-quality market data. Our salaries are adjusted for candidates in different geographic regions. We do our very best to ensure that were bringing our best offer; therefore we do not engage in salary negotiations.

The other things you need to know:

  • This role is an in-person role responsible for conducting in-person meetings and site visits across the Bay Area with flexibility for remote work when not engaged in field activities based primarily in our Oakland or San Francisco offices.
  • Travel: This position travels regularly throughout SFBA. This position may also involve occasional travel to Reading Partners National Headquarters in Oakland CA.

Qualifications

About you!

Youll be successful in this role if you:

  • Have 5 years of experience working with elementary-aged students in an educational setting. Teaching experience is strongly addition youll be successful if you have 3 years of educational program management experience.
  • Regularly lead team members to meet or exceed goals
  • Have 2 years of experience managing full-time staff
  • Have experience with literacy assessments teaching strategies and student data analysis
  • Have access to reliable transportation to travel within a defined geographic region on a daily basis
  • Have some flexibility and adaptability in your work schedule including some night and weekend time
  • Have excellent computer skills including MS Office and database management
  • Can prove eligibility to work in the U.S. legally
  • Hold a bachelors degree in education or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrate a commitment to fostering a dynamic and collaborative work environment
  • Display a deep belief in our mission and root your work in ourcore values
  • Ability to prove eligibility to work legally in the U.S. and that you are at least 18 years of age

  • Are you an AmeriCorps Peace Corps or other national service alum/alumna
  • Hold a masters degree in education or a related field
