OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Bachelors Degree preferred
2. Valid California State Occupational Therapist license
3. Knowledge of principles and current practices in field of educationally related occupational therapy
4. Knowledge of operation and care of related equipment supplies and materials
5. Experience in assessment planning and providing occupational therapy; experience in school-based occupational therapy preferred
6. Knowledge of physical intellectual social and emotional development of children
7. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with students parents staff and community
8. Ability to collaborate effectively as a member of a multi-disciplinary team to develop educational programs for children with special needs
9. Ability to apply State and Federal laws regulations and codes applicable to occupational therapy

REPORTS TO:Administrator as assigned

JOB GOAL: To provide and supervise activities related to occupational therapy services to students referred for assessment by or enrolled in District special education programs



PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Conducts assessments of students to determine eligibility for educationally-related occupational therapy services
2. Reviews occupational therapy reports provided from various sources to Individualized Education Program (IEP) teams; attends IEP meetings as appropriate
3. Develops and provides educationally related occupational therapy services procedures and protocols
4. Plans schedules implements and evaluates appropriate educationally-related occupational therapy programs; monitors student progress and evaluates plans on regular basis
5. Provides training as appropriate for use of adaptive equipment to meet educationally-related occupational therapy needs
6. Supervises certified occupational therapy assistants and other staff as assigned
7. Maintains accurate records and provides required reports
8. Confers with parents/guardians staff and appropriate others regarding plans for educationally-related occupational therapy services
9. Maintains safe and orderly therapy areas
10. Participates in ongoing professional development and maintains knowledge of current research-based educationally-related occupational therapy practices
11. Models personal and professional values of equity integrity caring collaboration personal and collective accountability
12. Performs other related duties as assigned

SALARY: $53.49 - $79.00 per hour

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the Districts Improvement of Professional Services handbook Board Policies and Procedures and consistent with collective bargaining agreements when applicable

NEW PROBATIONARY EMPLOYEES AND PERMANENT EMPLOYEES WHO BECOME PROBATIONARY UPON RECLASSIFICATION:


A new employee or a permanent employee who is changed to a new classification shall serve a probationary periodwhich shall not exceed six (6) months of duty time exclusive of leaves of absence or other absences. During thisprobationary period the employee must meet the required standards of performance to be recommended for permanentstatus in the classification. A probationary classified service employee may be terminated from the probationaryclassification at any time without cause without right of appeal or hearing before the Board of Education. Pursuant toEducation Code section 45113 a permanent employee who accepts a promotion and fails to complete the probationaryperiod for that promotional position shall be employed in the classification from which he or she was promoted.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Some positions may require proof of privately owned automobile insurance and the possession of a valid California MotorVehicle operators license. Fingerprint clearance by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the California Department ofJustice is a condition of appointment after all other required job conditions have been met. Must present verification ofcompletion of Child Abuse Mandated Reporter training or obtain verification within six (6) weeks of hire and annuallythereafter as required by the California Child Abuse Neglect Reporting Act.
