POSITION:Fuels Monitoring Technician Sr. *1 position*

SALARY:$25.02-$33.81 per hour DOE

REPORTS TO: Fuels Monitoring Lead

LOCATION:Mt Tolman Keller WA

Basic Functions:Non-Exempt. Primary responsibilities are in the fuels management section. Incumbent primarily serves as a fuels monitoring crew member. As a crew member the incumbent applies sampling protocols to make measurements and collect data in a forest or range setting. The incumbent also performs basic data management tasks and develops appropriate sampling strategy and sampling design. Additional work assignments may include lay out of treatment units contract administration location of property monuments and property lines grass seeding and other duties that support the natural resource program.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Training:

  • Requires a High School Diploma or GED AND (2) years of post-secondary education AND 6 months of general experience AND 6 months of specialized experience.
  • OR High School Diploma or GED AND AA or AAS degree AND 6 months of specialized experience. OR (36) months combined education and specialized experience.
  • Red Card qualified as a FEMO or FOBS capable of getting FEMO or FOBS within 2yrs of employment.
  • Possession of or the ability to obtain prior to hire a valid Washington State Drivers addition employee must be insurable under the Tribes licensing requirements.
  • Requires First Aid/CPR card or ability to obtain within 6 month of employment.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Requires knowledge in the use of tools and equipment peculiar to fuels/fire management.
  • Requires demonstrated ability to identify tree species shrubs and herbaceous plants.
  • Requires demonstrated ability to lay out treatment units working from maps or photos.
  • Requires tobe able to interpret topographic maps and conduct self-orientation in the field utilizing various instruments and reference resources.
  • Requires demonstrated computer skills necessary to efficiently manage data.
  • Requires familiar with the use of scanners and cameras.
  • Requires the ability to locate corners and accurately run property lines.
  • Requires the ability to perform moderate to heavy physical tasks out of doors under all types of conditions.
  • Requires the ability to make mathematical calculations with speed andaccuracy and to keep routine written records.
  • Requires the ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions and to apply guidelines to varied situations.
  • Requires the ability to consistently make accurate measurements of herbaceous plants shrubs.

Note: Pursuant to Tribal Policy if this position is safety sensitive it is subject to pre-employment drug addition this position is subject to reasonable suspicion and post-accident drug testing.

TRIBAL MEMBER AND INDIAN PREFERENCE WILL APPLY; PREFERENCE WILL ALSO BE GIVEN TO HONORABLY DISCHARGED VETERANS WHO ARE MINIMALLY QUALIFIED.

If required of this position you must possess and maintain avalid Washington State drivers license and be eligible for the Tribes Vehicle addition this position may be subject to pre-employment background clearances. If applicable these clearances must be maintained throughout employment.
