Job Summary
In accordance with the Vision Purpose and Values and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Reporting to the Manager AMSU under the clinical direction of the Medical Health Officer (MHO) AMSU Executive Leadership and in collaboration with other key Island Health staff the Regional Harm Reduction Coordinator provides leadership across the designated geography of Island Health in the education planning implementation delivery and evaluation of harm reduction services. As an integral member of the Substance Use Harm Reduction team the Regional Harm Reduction Coordinator contributes to the professional and organizational vision as it pertains to both geography-specific and Island-wide harm reduction strategies and service delivery.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education Training And Experience
A level of education training and experience equivalent to a Masters Degree in Nursing or related field such as Public Health Health Promotion or Social Work and a minimum of five (5) years recent related experience including one (1) year supervisory experience in a complex multi-union environment. Experience working with marginalized populations and with community resources is required.

Skills And Abilities
- Eligible for registration with the appropriate professional body.
- Demonstrated knowledge of applicable legislation and government policies as related to harm reduction services.

- Ability to administer oversee and coordinate the delivery of contracted community health services.
