Responsibilities:
To provide some idea of the tasks you may be performing a list of responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Check excavators dozers loaders skid steers and other heavy construction equipment for proper performance and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions.
- Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required.
- Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts components or systems using hand and power tools.
- Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturers specifications.
- Clean lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment.
- Service attachments and working tools such as buckets blades winches and booms.
- May perform repair work on heavy trucks.
- May attach components and adjust new equipment.
- Maintain service records and preventative maintenance for all equipment.
Qualifications:
Requirements and qualifications for this position are a combination of skills and attitude. A minimum of 5 years of mechanical experience with heavy equipment is ideal for this position - journeyperson certification would be an asset.
The following qualifications are needed for this role:
- Collaborative attitude that is team focused
- Great time management skills
- Highly organized and tidy
- Safety conscious
- Strong problem solving skills
- Completion of a 4 year apprenticeship program or a combination of over four years of work experience and industry courses in heavy equipment repair.
- 4 years of experience working on heavy civil construction equipment
- Legally able to work in Canada
