Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer the Manager of Financial Planning & Analysis will lead and perform key aspects of the companys financial activities including budgeting forecasting financial modeling research and analysis report preparation and assisting with month-end close processes. We seek someone with an MBA and progressive experience in private equity or investment banking. This person will need a strong skill set in complex excel modeling skills and analytics.

The pay range is $125000 - $150000.

This position is 100% in office in the Hillcrest area of San Diego CA. There is no relocation available for anyone out of the area.

• Coordinate with CFO on long-term financial planning to predict current and future performance
• Serve as key business partner to senior management providing financial insights and recommendations
• Lead financial forecasting planning and budgeting processes preparing annual budgets and monthly forecasts
• Manage and deliver timely and accurate weekly and monthly reporting and analysis on key performance metrics identifying key insights and trends while providing recommendations for improvement
• Analyze financial statements and report on current financial status and health
• Partner with development and operations on new store analytics and measurements around capital expenditures restaurant-level profits and returns on investment
• Develop financial models and projections though benchmarking and process analysis
• Lead analysis of marketing and pricing initiatives including recommendations and performance tracking
• Analyze and review proposals for any system related to financial accounting methods
• Work collaboratively and cross-functionally to prepare and deliver comprehensive evaluations proposals and recommendations to stakeholders
• Lead analysis of pricing initiatives including assistance in creation of pricing and revenue optimization solutions and measurement of performance
• Annual G&A budget preparation monthly analysis and cause of change reporting
• Provide analytical support for the executive management team
• Identify areas for financial optimization and cost management
• Lead special projects as needed to support marketing/ops/real estate etc.
• Communicate financial information clearly and concisely to all audiences
• Manage and develop internal Analysts and provide coaching as needed
• Manage large data sets from disparate sources for data mining analysis and research
• Manage internal Analyst and external accounting team and provide coaching as needed
• Identify and remove obstacles for General Managers to run their locations according to all Better Buzz Coffee standards while maximizing efficiency and profitability
• Provide clear and consistent direction through performance feedback and adhere to accounting and financial systems
• Maintain confidentiality of financial information

• BS in Accounting or Finance required
• MBA and experience in private equity investment banking or strategy consulting firm required
• 5 years experience of strong and progressive financial planning & analysis required
• Advanced skills with Excel Power Point and database programming
• Food and Beverage or Hospitality Industry Accounting Experience a plus
• Knowledge of and skill in corporate finance budgeting and performance management
• Exceptional analytical and data modeling skills and experience applying these skills to improve operational performance
• Strong communication skills both written and verbal and ability to interact with senior executives and management as well as business staff at all levels
• Ability to handle multiple priorities and effectively meet critical deadlines
• Natural curiosity for problem solving
• Strong attention to detail
