About the Role
We are recruiting for Peer Workers to provide support to clients who are engaging with the Family Services and Mental Health and Wellness departments. The Peer Worker will be the first point of contact for clients and will provide clients with the support they need to make informed choices. These positions are based in the Midwest region located in our sites in Geraldton.
This is a full-time position working 76 hours per fortnight on a maximum term with a maximum date of 31 December 2027. The hours of work are between 8am - 5pm Monday to Friday.
What were looking for
The successful applicants will be required to meet the following criteria:
- Willingness to identify as a person with Lived (Mental Health or Family & Domestic Violence) Experience working in a peer support role.
- Demonstrated professional understanding of how Lived Experience informs work as a Peer.
- Experience working in a similar or community work setting.
- Open attitude to continuous quality improvement.
- Strong understanding of Trauma Informed Practice principles and ability to implement this in day to day practice with colleagues and clients.
- Ability to work independently with a high level of reliability and contribute to the functioning of the team.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven interpersonal and de-escalation skills.
- Ability to model personal wellbeing safe professional boundaries and positive unconditional regard for clients.
- Understanding of computer skills including Microsoft Office and client reporting system.
- Knowledge and understanding of diversity gender and social inclusion particularly Aboriginal culture.
