Music Teaching Role in a Large Academy Setting

A large academy in Nottingham is seeking to appoint a Music Teacher to join its Creative Arts department from September. This is a full-time position within a school that values creative subjects as part of a balanced curriculum.

Music is an established subject within the school with opportunities for both classroom learning and performance-based activities throughout the year.


About the Role

You will teach Music across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 delivering lessons that include performance composition and music theory. Students will be supported in developing practical skills using instruments as well as understanding musical structure and styles.

You will also support students preparing for GCSE Music helping them develop confidence in performance and coursework components.

Depending on experience there may be opportunities to contribute to Key Stage 5 Music teaching.

The role may include involvement in school performances rehearsals and enrichment activities.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver Music lessons across KS3 and KS4

  • Teach performance composition and theory

  • Support students preparing for GCSE Music

  • Organise and support rehearsals and performances

  • Assess student work and provide structured feedback

  • Maintain music equipment and resources

  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records

  • Contribute to departmental planning and activities

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Experience teaching Music at secondary level

  • Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 Music

  • Confidence supporting student performances

  • Good classroom management skills

  • Strong organisational and communication skills

Desirable

  • Experience teaching GCSE or A-Level Music

  • Ability to lead extracurricular music activities
