Creative Teaching Opportunity in a Supportive Secondary School
A secondary school in Northampton is seeking to appoint an Art Teacher to join its Creative Arts department from September. This is a full-time role offering the opportunity to teach Art within a structured environment that supports creativity alongside strong classroom routines.
Art is an established subject within the school with students encouraged to explore a range of techniques and materials while developing creative confidence and visual communication skills.
About the Role
You will deliver Art lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 guiding students through practical projects that develop drawing painting and mixed media skills. Lessons will focus on building technical ability while encouraging creativity and independent thinking.
You will support students preparing for GCSE Art assessments helping them to build portfolios and demonstrate progress through structured coursework.
Depending on experience there may be opportunities to contribute to Key Stage 5 teaching.
You will work collaboratively with colleagues within the Creative Arts department to maintain consistent planning and assessment practices.
Key Responsibilities
Teach Art across KS3 and KS4
Deliver practical lessons using a range of artistic techniques
Support students in developing coursework portfolios
Prepare students for GCSE Art assessments
Assess student work and provide structured feedback
Maintain safe and organised classroom environments
Contribute to departmental planning and shared resources
Promote positive behaviour and engagement in lessons

Experience teaching KS5 Art
Ability to support extracurricular art activities
