QA Automation Engineer – API & BDD Testing

Job Description:

• Opportunity to contribute to enterprisescale quality engineering at Bank of America supporting critical APIdriven platforms through automationfirst QA practices
• This role requires a strong seniorlevel QA Automation Tester with deep expertise in API automation BDDbased frameworks and independent test design ownership
• The Senior QA Automation Engineer will be responsible for analyzing business requirements IT design documents SwaggerOpenAPI specifications and API workflows to identify test requirements and build a robust scalable automation testbed
• This role demands outofthebox thinking strong attention to detail and the ability to proactively identify complex edge and failure scenarios beyond standard happypath testing
• The role requires outofthebox thinking strong ownership of test scenarios and test data and the ability to independently absorb API functionality and translate it into functional regression and negative automation coverage

Required Skills

• Seniorlevel experience specializing in Software Quality Assurance Testing with a strong emphasis on handson automationfirst testing
• Expertise in API Automation Testing using Cucumber with Rest Assured BDDbased frameworks Maven Git and Jenkins
• Strong experience in API testing both manual and automated using Postman and Rest Assured
• Proven ability to analyze business requirements IT design documents API contracts and SwaggerOpenAPI specifications to derive complete test requirements
• Demonstrated experience building and maintaining a robust automation testbed incorporating functional regression negative boundary and edgecase scenarios
• Ability to work independently as a senior automation tester quickly understanding API functionality and backend flows with minimal guidance
• Handson experience implementing automation testing functional testing and regression testing across multiple environments
• Strong understanding of HTTP methods requestresponse validation error handling and data integrity checks
• Ability to think beyond documented requirements and proactively identify risk areas and productionimpacting defects
• Experience working in Agile enterprise environments actively participating in sprint planning grooming and QA signoff activities
• Strong collaboration skills with developers product owners and platform teams to ensure early quality validation

Desired Skills

• Experience testing APIs in financial services or other highly regulated enterprise environments
• Experience validating microservices and backend systems from a QA automation perspective
• Exposure to CICD pipelines and integrating automation suites into build and deployment workflows
• Database validation and backend data verification experience
• Strong documentation communication and analytical skills
