Patient Testing Responsibilities

The neurodiagnostic technician conducts various patient tests including but not limited to:

  • Electromyography (EMG)

  • Electroencephalography (EEG)

  • Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS)

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Ensures timely completion of daily patient testing

  • Accurately documents pre-patient testing

  • Maintains clinical testing equipment

  • Performs all assigned duties in strict compliance with established policies procedures and protocols

  • Works to ensure patient safety comfort and privacy

Education Requirements

  • Associates degree from an accredited school

  • Basic knowledge of anatomy including muscles nerves vestibular system and visual system

  • Average mathematical skills

  • Basic understanding of electronics and instrumentation

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of recent experience in electronic diagnostics

  • Recent experience in EMG

  • Certified EMG desired and preferred

  • EEG experience preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

  • Broad range of administrative and technical skills

  • Detailed knowledge of neurodiagnostic equipment

  • Ability to execute multi-step diagnostic procedures

  • Produces final output within established departmental standards
