The Service & Team
Cornwalls Educational Psychology Service is an innovative skilled and highly supportive team committed to improving outcomes for children and young people. The service delivers a wide range of evidencebased statutory and traded psychological services working closely with schools settings and partner agencies to promote learning inclusion emotional health and wellbeing.


You will join a welcoming team of qualified Educational Psychologists Trainee Educational Psychologists and Assistant Educational Psychologists all focused on applying psychology to enable positive change. Staff wellbeing is a high priority and the service promotes flexible ways of working supported by appropriate technology. Most team members currently work from home with office space available across the county.

The Role
Cornwall Council is recruiting an Assistant Educational Psychologist on a 12month fixedterm contract. The role is designed to support your development in preparation for applying to an Educational Psychology Doctorate course during the year of employment.


Working under the supervision of qualified Educational Psychologists you will support the delivery of statutory and traded services contributing to work that makes a meaningful difference for children and young people. You will work alongside qualified trainee and assistant psychologists gaining experience across a range of educational and communitybased contexts.


The role includes a comprehensive induction programme regular supervision and ongoing professional development opportunities to help you build the skills knowledge and understanding required for professional training in Educational Psychology.

Working Pattern
This is a fulltime fixedterm role. Cornwall Council supports flexible ways of working to promote employee wellbeing.

What Youll Need to Succeed

  • Honours degree in Psychology
  • Current knowledge of psychological theory and practice including uptodate understanding of child development
  • Experience of applying psychology within educational or community settings
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills
  • An understanding of the contexts within which psychological services schools and educational settings operate
  • A strong commitment to professional learning and development with the intention of applying for formal postgraduate training in Educational Psychology
