The role
The Principal Product Owner at Value NSW (VNSW) is a pivotal role within the agile development framework tasked with maximising the value of the digital products developed by the team. This role involves defining the product vision to align with business strategies and customer needs managing the product backlog by creating prioritising and refining it and acting as a bridge between stakeholders and the development team.
The Principal Product Owner gathers and communicates requirements and feedback prioritises work based on business value and feasibility guides the development process reviews and accepts completed work and manages product releases. Additionally the role focuses on continuous improvement by evaluating and refining the backlog and facilitating retrospectives ensuring the right product is built to deliver maximum value to both the business and its customers.

- Relevant qualifications in a technology or product discipline or relevant professional experience.

What you will bring to the role:
- Product and Backlog Management: Strong understanding of product lifecycle management from ideation to launch including proficiency in creating prioritising and maintaining a product backlog to support agile delivery methods. Demonstrated experience in end-to-end management of digital products.
- Stakeholder Engagement and Communication: Outstanding ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels coupled with excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey ideas and foster strong relationships.
- Technical and Analytical Expertise: Basic understanding of the technical aspects of software development with strong knowledge of Cloud technologies DevOps practices and database management. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to evaluate complex business needs.
- Leadership and Decision-Making: Strong leadership skills to guide and motivate the development team with the ability to make informed decisions quickly to keep projects moving forward.
- Framework Creation and UX Understanding: Expertise in creating frameworks and assessing tools to support agile delivery methods and integration for centrally hosted and externally used solutions along with a solid understanding of user experience design principles. Proven success in product delivery within high-impact customer environments.
About Us
- Making more than 2.7 million residential rural commercial and industrial valuations annually with a total value of approximately $3 trillion as well as managing compulsory acquisition determinations in situations where government cannot reach agreement totalling over $1 billion per annum
- Delivering customer services and experience for 2.7 million landholders per annum receiving up to 50000 calls and many more enquiries
- Monitoring assurance and governance pertaining to the quality of the valuations undertaken relevant to both the Valuation of Land Act 1916 and the Land Acquisition (Just Terms Compensation) Act 1991.
In addition VNSW provides other specialised valuation activities services and determinations for other cluster or statewide government partners including being responsible for the delivery of all valuations for government property transactions as defined by the Government Property Framework and Treasurers Directions as well as more than $84 billion in government asset valuations for financial accounting purposes.
