Job Summary
The Train Operator Apprentice is an entry level position requiring training in the operation of diesel locomotives and loading/unloading of commodities such as lignite ash and western coal.Job Description
Key Roles & Responsibilities: Job duties include but are not limited to:
- Performs switching operations.
- Performs light maintenance repairs to locomotives and railcars.
- Complies with the Luminant safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
- Complies with Luminants Railroad Operating Rule Book and Local Operating Procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Work is of a physical nature and performed in an outdoor environment in all weather conditions.
- Must be willing to work a rotating 12-hour shift and overtime as scheduled or assigned.
Job Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Knowledge of basic math reading and writing skills required.
- Previous railroad operations or maintenance experience is not required but would be a plus.
*Bargaining Unit Position represented by IBEW 2337.
