Chief Maintenance Engineer

Job Title: Chief Engineer / Director of Maintenance
Location: Sheraton Augusta Hotel Augusta GA

Position Summary:
The Chief Engineer is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the hotels maintenance operations ensuring the safety functionality and appearance of the property. This leadership role manages the engineering team preventative maintenance programs and capital improvement projects to maintain brand standards and guest satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the daily operations of the Engineering/Maintenance department
• Develop and implement preventative maintenance (PM) programs for guest rooms public spaces and back-of-house areas
• Ensure all building systems are operating efficiently (HVAC electrical plumbing life safety systems)
• Maintain compliance with all local state and federal regulations including OSHA standards
• Oversee repairs renovations and capital projects
• Manage department budget expenses and inventory of supplies and equipment
• Supervise train and schedule maintenance team members
• Respond to guest and staff maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner
• Conduct routine inspections of the property to ensure quality and safety standards are met
• Coordinate with vendors and contractors as needed

Qualifications:

• Minimum 35 years of maintenance leadership experience preferably in a hotel or hospitality environment
• Strong knowledge of HVAC electrical plumbing and general building systems
• Experience with preventative maintenance systems and work order tracking
• Excellent leadership communication and organizational skills
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve maintenance issues efficiently
• Flexibility to work weekends holidays and on-call as needed

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification in HVAC electrical or related trade
• Experience with Marriott or branded hotel standards
• Knowledge of energy management systems

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Ability to stand walk climb ladders and work in various environmental conditions
