Global Distribution Warehouse Worker Lead

Job Summary
Purposes: This position helps make gospel teachings resources or services accessible to all Gods Children supporting the mission of the Church.
The incumbent in this position works as a warehousing lead and provides lead direction to a minimum of 3-5 employees missionaries or volunteers in a specific warehousing function such as receiving shipping international shipping and so on. As a lead the incumbent performs all the functions of a Warehouse Worker 2 in receiving stores and/or shipping functions. The incumbent takes the lead in interviewing applicants to fill vacancies handles minor disciplinary problems and assists in performance evaluations of employees.
Responsibilities
Specific work performed may vary considerably between the different departments for this position. However duties would be of similar complexity and difficulty to those in the following list:
- Performs the assigned tasks of a Warehouse Worker 2.
- Supervises and coordinates the activities of other warehouse workers warehouse worker trainees and material handlers in the assigned area. Schedules employee work and ensures assigned functions are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Trains employees in a safe operation of equipment as needed trains employees in job-related policies and procedures and conducts regular performance and goal-setting interviews.
Qualifications
- Requires a High School diploma and at least 3 years previous warehousing material handling or related work experience. Preference will be given to those who have internal Church warehousing and/or leadership experience.
- Some college education is preferred.
- Must be able to read and understand English.
- Basic math skills Intermediate computer skills with training in inventory control and/or shipping and receiving programs experience required.
- Experience in operating motorized material handling equipment.
- Must be able to physically lift/move/push/pull items (up to 50 lbs. alone or occasionally lift up to 100 lbs. with 2 people) climb ladders stairs scaffolding and ramps to store/retrieve items and operate a pallet jack containing up to 2500 lbs.
- Thorough understanding of functional area of assignment and related systems.
- Knowledge and adherence to safety practices.
- Knowledge of continuous improvement practices or be willing to attend training in the first year of employment to better understand these principles.
- Intermediate computer skills required.
