Grab is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead a diverse set of teams within the Consumer experience tech family. This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for the driving user acquisition retention and daily engagement for millions of users across Southeast Asia.

As a leader of leaders you will oversee a multi-team organization tasked with building the front door of the Grab ecosystem. Your scope includes driving Consumer Growth our critical experience surfaces such as the Home Screen profiles and activities and AI powered services for recommendations building social transaction products like Groups and Communities and steering the Consumer App Mobile Platform. Reporting to the Head of Engineering for Core Experiences you will be a key architect of Grabs long-term technical and product strategy.

The Consumer Experience Tech Family sits at the intersection of high-scale engineering and product innovation. We are a multidisciplinary group of engineers and managers dedicated to making the Grab app intuitive fast and deeply personal.

Our teams handle some of the highest-traffic surfaces in the region requiring a blend of mobile excellence robust backend systems and sophisticated machine learning. In this role your impact scales through the leaders you grow and the organizational standards you set. You arent just managing tasks; you are shaping the future of the consumer experience.

  • Strategic Leadership: You will translate high-level business goals into actionable technical roadmaps across multiple domains. You are responsible for navigating ambiguity and ensuring your teams remain aligned with Grabs broader strategic priorities.
  • Leader of Leaders: You will directly manage and coach Engineering Managers and senior Individual Contributors. Your success is measured by your ability to build a high-performing leadership bench and foster a culture of mentorship and career growth.
  • Engineering Excellence: You will raise the bar for technical quality across your teams This involves partnering with senior technical leaders to drive architectural consistency platformization and long-term reliability for our mobile and backend systems.
  • Cross-Functional Partnership: You will operate as a strategic peer to Product Design and Data Science leadership. You will lead product discovery efforts and weigh technical trade-offs against business impact to ensure we are investing in the right areas.
  • Operational Rigor: You will oversee the operational health of your organization leading incident response strategies at scale and ensuring that our systems are built to be resilient cost-efficient and performant.

Qualifications :

Requirements

  • Proven Leadership at Scale: Extensive experience in engineering management specifically leading organizations composed of multiple teams and managers. You have a track record of successfully delivering large-scale consumer-facing products.
  • Technical Breadth: While you are a manager you maintain strong technical intuition. You should have deep experience in at least two of the following: Mobile Platform Engineering (iOS/Android) Scalable Backend Microservices or Data Science/ML applications for consumer personalization. A working knowledge of Large Language Models (LLMs) and agentic workflows is required particularly as they relate to developing consumer experiences and software development workflows.
  • Strategic Influence: Demonstrated ability to influence technical and product strategy across team boundaries and functional departments. You can communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders with ease.
  • Talent Developer: A passion for coaching and developing leaders. You have experience managing the performance and career trajectories of Engineering Managers and Lead Engineers.
  • Operational Excellence: Expert-level understanding of software development lifecycles including CI/CD automated testing and site reliability engineering. Experience in elevating stability and engineering best practices along with incident management is a must.
  • Product Mindset: You are obsessed with the end-user experience. You have experience using data-driven insights and A/B testing to drive iterative product development that deliver on business outcomes.
  • Adaptability: The ability to thrive in a fast-paced evolving environment and the resilience to lead teams through change and organizational growth.
  • Education: BS/MS in Computer Science Engineering or a related field.
