Position Overview:
The NAF Academy of Engineering Teacher provides rigorous project-based instruction
aligned with the National Academy Foundation (NAF) Engineering pathway. This position
integrates academic and technical content to prepare students for college careers and
industry certifications in engineering and related STEM fields. The teacher collaborates with
academy staff industry partners and advisory boards to deliver a work-based learning
experience that reflects real-world engineering practices.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Deliver engaging standards-based instruction in engineering and STEM-related courses
aligned with NAF Academy of Engineering curriculum frameworks. Support
implementation of the NAF Academy model.
Implement project-based learning (PBL) that emphasizes design thinking problem-
solving and real-world application.
Integrate academic content into engineering instruction.
Assist in NAF certification processes.
Meets and instructs assigned classes at the times and locations designated.
Plans and delivers engaging lessons using a variety of instructional methods materials
and technologies to meet diverse student needs.
Creates and maintains a safe organized and positive classroom and shop environment
conducive to learning.
Takes necessary precautions to protect students tools equipment and facilities.
Assists in implementing school and district policies procedures and safety protocols.
Encourages students to demonstrate appropriate work habits professional behavior
and safety practices.
Develops clear learning objectives and communicates them to students.
Assesses student progress through a variety of evaluation methods; maintains accurate
and complete records as required by law and policy.
Provides regular feedback and progress reports to students and parents.
Assists with identifying and addressing learning challenges in collaboration with
specialists.
Supports student participation in Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs)
such as SkillsUSA and serves as an advisor.
Participates in professional learning and maintains current industry knowledge and
certifications.
Engages in ongoing collaboration with colleagues business partners and postsecondary
institutions to enhance instructional programs.
Demonstrates and models appropriate safety procedures.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education and Work Experience
Bachelors degree in a related field and at least 2 years of relevant work experience

Related Work Experience:

Credential Requirements:
Prior to Hire:
Valid North Carolina Teaching License 820 or eligibility for licensure.
For Continuing Licensure:
Technology and Engineering Education Praxis (5053)

Preferred Skills:
Experience with PBL or STEM instruction.
Industry experience.
Familiarity with NAF model.
Experience with CAD robotics or coding.
Work Environment:
High school setting with classroom and lab-based instruction.
Evaluation
Performance will be evaluated regularly by the principal or designee in accordance with
Board policy and state guidelines.
