We are delighted to be making an appointment for the position of Teacher of Drama for our high-achieving 11-18 academy in North Yorkshire. Outwood Academy Easingwold has the highest-performing Post 16 centre in North Yorkshire and GCSE results are the highest for non-selective schools an achievement we are incredibly proud of.

As a teacher of Drama you will join an established department that offers a wealth of expertise. You will become part of a very successful and friendly Creative And Performing Arts faculty team led by an experienced and supportive Head of Faculty with over 14 years of working in secondary schools and committed to driving standards to the next level within the faculty and across the trust.
The Drama department at Easingwold has two resourced rooms. Both classrooms have a lighting rig and these are used frequently at all key stages and highly effective episodes of guided practice to develop strong procedural knowledge and confidence for independent and deliberate practice. The established KS3 Drama curriculum is well planned and is designed as a progressive course that allows the teacher autonomy in the classroom to fulfill their potential. It fully prepares students for the KS4 qualifications giving experiences from physical theatre and facial expressions to specific practitioner focus such as Brecht to Artaud. The Drama Department offers the KS4 qualification of OCR Drama giving students the opportunity to excel in their love and enthusiasm for Drama.
The department produces outstanding outcomes with relentless ambition to improve on previous years. Many of our students go on to study Drama at college and addition we have been successful in recent years within the OGAT Outwood Performance of the Year this amazing evening sees musicians actors and dancers from across the trust come together in a concert to celebrate the talents of.
We currently offer a wide range of enrichment activities for students across the faculty from Performing Arts Club and GCSE enrichment as well as Art Club Photography Club and GCSE enrichment in Art as well as Choir School of Rock and Concert Band. The faculty puts on two concerts a year as well as Battle of The Bands and a big production normally a musical and plays. This eclectic range of opportunities gives the students an amazing choice of extra-curricular experiences to really develop their knowledge skills and cultural capital.
We are excited to meet a candidate who is able to continue our tradition of high quality concerts musicals and plays and bring some fresh ideas to develop our offer for our students.
Teaching and learning is exceptionally led across the academy by a team of experienced SLT and middle leaders who ensure that the curriculum for our students will set them up for lifelong success.

Responsibilities
The Teacher is expected to implement and use a wide range of teaching and learning strategies within the classroom applying techniques like Assessment for Learning (AfL) to continually improve student performance. A core duty involves effectively using student level data to identify areas for development and raise standards.
This professional must be aware of strategies available for improving the learning and achievement of all students alongside possessing a good understanding of curriculum developments within their specific subject area. The role requires maintaining high expectations for all students and effectively communicating with students and their parents both orally and in writing. The teacher is expected to work collaboratively as part of a team sharing good practice across the department and demonstrating creativity in problem solving and a willingness to adopt new approaches.
Qualifications
Essential qualifications include a degree in an appropriate discipline related to the relevant subject and a teaching qualification coupled with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). Required experience includes recent and relevant teaching experience (either in employment or training) and experience of assessment at Key Stage 3 and 4.
The successful candidate will be confident in using standard computer packages (word processing email and spreadsheets) and understand how these tools can enhance student learning. The role demands high levels of professionalism including the ability to relate to students in a pleasant and sympathetic manner and a capacity to recognise potential child safeguarding issues.
